Helloooo Charlie!
It feels so good to be back again!
After two long summer months (which by the way happened very quickly), it is time to go back to school, tests, homework... So as I do not want to be depressed about this, I am going to share my best moment of the summer! It was a rather long moment, in fact it was a whole week! When I went with my family to visit the Netherlands, and more precisely Amsterdam!!!
We have seen a lot of things:
For example lots of bikes in the heart of the city:
The famous pun "I Amsterdam"
Lots of interesting museums:
The EYE Film Institute museum:
The Van Gogh museum:
The Nemo museum (nothing similar to the movie, it is a science museum for children):
A clog museum:
It seemed to be an amazing trip, Amsterdam *-* a very special place in th world where (at least) everyone moves in bikes... These guys have done an amazing thing: make a bycicle the vehicle of the population. And all the historic characters like Anne Frank (who wasn't born there but anyways, she lived hidden in a house) or Van Gogh, the man without an ear.... I'd love to travel to Amsterdam and the Netherlands (I actually love those colorful tulip fields) and ride a bike all day in the city and sitting in the bench, the Fault in our Stars bench. I enjoyed your article!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to guess who wrote this article until I read the undercut part and then I was just like "CARLA. OF COURSE." Seemed nice ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, I feel a bit envious because all of you have been to amazing cities these holidays meanwhile I've spent my summer on Netflix most of the time (don't worry I did something else as well).^^
ReplyDeleteThe clog museum looks so colorful and cute! I'm so happy that the city is involved in LGBT though, it would be great if it was the same here because it breaks my heart sometimes to see how persecuted gays are..Anyways, your undercut is really cool and so was your trip!
Amsterdam ! This is totally an Hipster city ! Art, bikes , LGBT flags, undercut ! It looks amazing! Netherlands doesn't attract me a lot but this city yes . I've the feeling that it is very different from the rest of the country , but I don't know anything about it so maybe it's not. Have you been outside the city , in the countryside or in an other city ? And what did you eat ? ( this is a really important question)!

ReplyDeleteLucky you! Amsterdam, what a city!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Amsterdam a long time ago! I remember finding the local language pretty funny and ugly (Hoe gaat het?) and also kind of impossible to pronounce! This is in my memories a great city where art is very present, with colourful houses and sex shops everywhere! My grandma lives in Belgium so I went several time to Netherlands before (when I'm talking about Netherlands, I mean the unknown part of the country) and I agree with Malka-Lou when she says that it is different from Amsterdam!
Amesterdam! what a wonderful city! i'm glad i had the chance to visit these places before.people there are nice and the streets are full of life. Museums are also great. it's a city full of art and fabulous places.it must have been an amazing experience for you guys!

ReplyDeleteWow, lucky you Amsterdam sounds great! I know quite a few people who have been there before but I have never been there myself. It looks like quite a nice place there with the lovely little canals, bikes ( even though I don't enjoy riding bikes much myself). There is one thing that I really would like to visit are the tulip fields, I'm not a big fan of flowers but I really would like to go and see them. It looks really nice, colorful and lots of art. Happy you had a nice summer/ visit
ReplyDeleteYea I agree with Malka aha, looks like a hipster city! But hipsters are cool, right ? Must've been so interesting visiting all these museums! I personnally love going to art galleries. Netherlands is a country kind of unknown to me, like, I barely knew that Amsterdam was its capital, can you imagine? ahaha enough with my geography lacks, it looks like you had a lot of fun there, how cool! I would've been as pumped as you going there. Anyway, wishing you good luck with school and everything this year!
ReplyDeleteYou went to Amsterdam this summer, what a chance ! It is a really nice city, I've already been there and it's very interesting to see how varied it is, you can do a lot of thing in a day, like visit museums (if you went in place like Anne Frank's house, you might have seen how LONG you have to wait to enter it), riding bikes or just walking down canals to see traditional Dutch houses. And of course at night you can go visit the red district which is really surprising and see that Amsterdam is the weed's capital ! So I'm glad for you that you have been over there, and I wish you to go back soon because it is really an amazing place
ReplyDeleteOh Amsterdam..Lucky you! Plus you stayed a whole week! I'm glad you managed to show us some parts of your amazing trip, it's always good to see what other people do, especially if it's in a foreign country. It seems to be a colorful city, full of life with plants and bikes everywhere...I want to go there so bad; I love biking, that's a good point. I didn't know the city was really involved in the LGBT community, it's always good to know. And the parks seem to be so beautiful, it must be a great place to just seat and admire. The museums must be interesting too, as well. And the city has her charm, maybe because Anne Frank stayed there a long time, or just because the city herself is really charming aha
ReplyDeleteLast thing, I looooove your undercut
What an amazing trip you had ! You're very Lucky! Amsterdam seems to be a very beautiful city with a lot of fun things to discover !! It must be a very quiet city because apperently there are a lot of cars! I knew this city from a book named 'the fault in our stars'(you probably know that book)but I didn't imagine that at all !! I hope you had a great time there.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the undercut looks really good !
Wow! I did not think that this post would have so many comments - I am really happy you all like it :)
ReplyDeleteYes, even from the plane you can see it's a hipster city XD
Indeed, the city is really colourful, but I didn't see all the tulips because it wasn't the good season (I think it's from mid-March to the end of May that the tulips transform large parts of Holland into a colourful patchwork)
I loved the fact that the city is full of LGBT-everything, for example, there is a "shop" called PINK POINT and it's like an information kiosk and it is so funny because we do not have this in France ;)
I must admit, I didn't go much around the red district at night because of my little sister (she is ten and my mum was not really okay with the whole prostitution in the shop front...). And I did not visit the Anne Frank museum.
Im glad you like my undercut because I really do love it (but now my hair are long so Im gonna cut it again to do another drawing ;)
Amsterdam is such a beautiful city, I just love the atmosphere of it, all the canals and bikes.. I have always wanted to go there and I will for sure, it is on my bucket list. And the undercut looks really good. Thanks for sharing !
ReplyDeleteI loooovvvee Amsterdam ! Lucky you ! I'm a hudge fan of Amsterdam. My cousin live there and I went few times when I was child. The city was full of bikes like in the picture, and it just ameing to see how the people are respectfull for the nature there. Did you use the bike to move to different places like the people there ? Museums and parks seems to be really intresting, the one I really want to do is the nemo museum even if it not about the movie.

ReplyDeleteWell hello Clara! I won't totally agree with the : "it's sooo good to be back", i personnaly would of stayed another few months in summer vacations (especially in England, it's such a beatiful place, even if it's often raining...), but it seems that you had fun.
ReplyDeleteTo be quite honest, i never would of thought Amsterdam was worth visiting. And i especially didn't expect it to be so nice! I love the picture with the fountain and the nice raimbow effect, maybe you should join your friend (or mates) photography club! You'd both make an amazing combo!
Well then, that's it for me, good luck this year!
