Let’s shake the way of thinking as Virginia Woolf did !

Hello Charlie’s !

Today, you are going to change people mind, as one of the first feminist, a brilliant woman named Virginia Woolf did, one century before us.

Virginia Woolf is one of my role model, she is exactly what I want to be later. As an independent, smart writer, she made things happen changing way of thinking about women thanks to her words and her modern thoughts.

With her sister, they found Bloomsbury group, where openminded artists and intellectuals discuss about modern social questions as lesbianism, women’s access to education, bisexuality…

You have probably already heard about her famous feminist essay « A Room of One's Own » written in 1929. Behind this enigmatic title hides her long fight about the space of women’s writers in a world dominated by men.

« A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction. »

What most astonished me about this fight, it’s still a current issue ! Unfortunately, between 1929 and 2020, women’s space in literature and society hasn’t change so much.

« Why did men drink wine and women water ? Why was one sex so prosperous and the other so poor ? What effect has poverty on fiction ? What conditions are necessary for the creation of works of art ? »

As she did in her books, I asked myself a question :

Why men feel superior to women ?

In our society, still today, be a man means be viril, have power and money, be strong and don’t cry. It’s an heavyweight for a boy who wants to become a man. So maybe, if men belittle women it would be more to raise themselves and their sex than to demean women.

Fortunately, world is moving, our generation Z is aware of this issue and already express itself in an no gender way.

Thus, to change people mind, we have to educate society that human must not be determined by his/her sex but rather by his/her personality, feelings, tastes… To break the prejudices to let men and women become and love who they want freely.

Another question I asked myself about the word virility :

Is the notion of virility have to change ? Or have we to stop to use this word because it should no longer match with men’s ideals ?

I’m counting on you to help me to answer this question in comments ;)

I apologize myself for my grammar mistakes hoping you enjoyed my first article nevertheless.

I would love to have your opinion about these questions in comments.
Maybe together, we can make things happen !

4real & 4ever

on the 8th day of the third month (march) of every year since 1975, the international women's day- or IWD- or journée internationale des femmes- or journée mondiale de la femme- or journée internationale des droits des femmes- or international day for women's rights- or JMF- is officially celebrated everywhere in the world, put forward by the UN (website:internationalwomensday.com) as a day to celebrate achievements of women worldwide, to raise awareness and accelerate women's equality.

what a coincidence you would say that on this very day many famous people were born! (https://www.thefamouspeople.com/march-8th.php) "March 8 people are often confusing and misunderstood individuals. March 8 people are warm-hearted and enjoy making those around feel at ease."
examples of celebrities: Kat von D, Boris Kodjoe, Benny Blanco etc.

Women in show business

Hello hello, it’s been a long time since I didn’t write an article (yes I did once...) .
To be honest at first I didn’t have very many ideas but as my mind was working I found a subject which is the place of women in  show business, music, art, etcetera…

In cinema :
according to a website in 2016 women represented :
4% of directors
11% of writers
3% of cinematographers
19% of producers
14% of editors
You can also add to that the fact that in history only one women won the Academy Award for Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow in 2010) and same for the Palme d’or (Jane Campion in 1993)

In music :
a recent study shown that 66% of the people working in the music industry are male.
An Australian study also said that 1 artist (musician) on 5 in the country was a woman and on the same study that 80% of the record labels were managed by men

In art :
I think the place of women in art can be well resumed by these two famous posters from the Guerrilla Girls

So that was a short article but I hope it refreshed your mind on the fact that the fight for equal rights isn’t finished yet !
With this, see you

Retouched Photos in Magazines

Hi Charlie,
Today I'm going to talk about the retouched women in magazines.
In fact, when we read magazines, we are often jealous of the beautiful photos of perfect women with perfect bodies.
But we shouldn't because every single photos that we see is an illusion, it's a lie!

It's nothing more than a fraud because all the photos have been retouched before it is seen on the pages of these magazines. Of course everyone in the fashion or in the magazine industries don't deny it, because everyone is aware of that but I think it's crazy! These altered photos are completely unrealistic and they are showing unreal standards, so we are growing in a world where they show us a model of beauty which doesn't exist.

So it becomes nearly impossible for the women to feel beautiful, because with this photo-shopping everywhere, we are always comparing ourselves to women who don't even look the same in reality so it's unfair.

But instead of changing, the marketers are laughing because, let's be honest, whatever they're selling, we are buying it so in fact, they earn money and they don't care about the position of the women in the society.

Fortunately, there is more and more photographers who decides to show real women, without retouches, so this is more realistic and this is great I think, to show different ladies with different weights and sizes....

So in conclusion:
1- Put things into perspective, the pictures that you see are not the truth.
2- Don't compare yourself to fakes bodies.
3- Stars have professional makeup artist to do their makeup and they are always retouched after the shooting (they are ugly too when they wake up, don't worry....)
4- Just feel beautifuuuuuuuul!!! ;)
