Letterboxd

Hey everyone!

During this quarantine, something I've found myself doing a lot is watching/rewatching movies, because that's one of my favourite things to do. And for years now, I've been making a list of every movie I see, because I like knowing when I first watched what, and overall like keeping a tab on things. And instead of writing it out in my boring old 'Notes' app, I'm going to present a website that does just that!

This website is called Letterboxd, and it's great for movie lovers. You can keep a diary of all the movies you see, write or read reviews and give ratings, find ideas on what to watch next...

Letterboxd has a great aesthetic, this what your profile looks like:
peep my profile picture

On your profile, you can log your favourite movies
they only let you have four, it's dramatic
And you can stack all the movies you've ever seen, all in one place!

You can follow your friends, and judge them for their poor taste:
only three and a half stars for The Full Monty, really??

Finally, you can make cool (and mostly useless?) lists:

Alright, that's it for today, I hope you enjoyed this short article exposing my taste in films! If you want to create an account, it's super easy: you can either download the app, or use their website. So, if anyone ends up making one, or already has one, feel free to share your username in the comments because I'm always searching for new things to watch!

Take care, and watch loads of movies :)

A cool website : doesthedogdie.com

Hello, this is an article I’ve wanted to write for quite some time but I didn’t, mostly because I’m lazy and procrastinating.

Here’s a website I found out about a few months ago: doesthedogdie.com

On this website, you can look for a movie/TV series/book and then check whether there are mentions of certain topics or themes which can be emotionally triggering for you. There are many different categories, such as “a dog die”,  “someone breaks a bone” or “the ending is not happy” (as it says on the homepage, there are 50+ categories, I won’t list them all).

Here's what it looks like when you look for a work (in this case, "Boyhood", one of my favorite movies if you still didn't know).

If you want, you can also contribute to the website, you just need to create an account and then you can add works that are not on it yet and you think could be useful to someone. You can also contribute to a work that’s already there by voting if yes or no there is a mention of something and, if you think it useful, add a description of the scene when it happens.

Of course, there are many spoilers but if there’s something you know is emotionally triggering to you, this website is a great source which can be useful to check before reading/watching something!

I hope you enjoyed my article and you’ll find the website useful!

The Best Website

Hi Charlie !

I wanted to talk about a super website called Goodeed ! It's been at least 2 years that I want to talk about it and I haven't done it so here I am !

So what is Goodeed ?
It's a French website that permits you to donate to associations for free by using the money generated by ads ! How cool is that ?

How does it works ?
So you create an account (it's free) and you choose if you want to donate for food, water, trees or money for special projects (like academic support etc etc).
After clicking, you have to watch an ads for at least 20 secondes, and they give 70% of what they earn to the associations they work with, and keep 30% for them.

For example, if you donate tree, the money is given to Weforest that plants trees to preserve the planet and limit the rise of temperature (https://www.weforest.org//)
If you donate food, the money is given to World Food Program (https://fr.wfp.org/)
If you donate water, the money is given to Solidarités Internationale (https://www.solidarites.org/en/?noredirect=en_GB)

I think that this website is a great idea ! Here is the link if you want to take a look :
