A remastered anime by Netflix.

Hi Charlie!!!

This is my new and first post, and I am going to present to you an Anime remastered and produced by Netflix.
So, to locate you an Anime is a manga in motion, presented as a cartoon.
This anime is called "Devilman Crybaby", maybe if your parents were born between 1960 and 1975, they might remember the anime "Devilman", created by Kiyoshi Nagai also known as Go Nagai. It's the original version of this story published from 1972 to 1973.

"Devilman Crybaby" is now remastered by Netflix, published in January 2018, and introduced with a season of 10 episodes, around 25 minutes per episode, the new version is written by Ichirō ōkouchi. It is a Dark Fantasy series and story.

The story is the same from the original version:

Akira Fudo a young man, is abreast from his strange childhood friend Ryo Asuka that some demons came back to take back earth from humans, these demons manifest at some strange pseudo-Satanic parties named Sabbath. Ryo persuades Akira to come to a party and unite him with a powerful demon called "Amon". At this precise moment, Akira changes form and started to have an abnormal strength, becoming the most famous guy in his school.
Along the story, he will be helped to fight the demons by Ryo, Miki Makimura his best friend/ He lives with her since he 's a child, Miko Kuroda his running partner.
BUT there is an addition of characters that give some life,  to this story and they're a gang, The Wamu's gang, all along the series they freestyle and remember the actuality of what is going on in the city. This Gang is composed by Wamu, Gabi, Mayuta(Kukun), Babo and Hie, the five of them going to help Akira too.

This series is full of sentimental and rap/poem soundtrack which is the thing I prefer, when I say rap it is not rap with music but freestyles with a basic mouth beat (beatbox) and it is not bad at all.
Also, because the original anime is old the decors are mixed between the late 60's/70's and nowadays with futuristic gadgets and it is a masterpiece for me.

I cannot make a comparaison of the two versions simply because I haven't watched the older one yet.

I wish you will watch it and enjoy it, and even if you do not like mangas I highly recommend it to you.

For anime lovers (and metal ones) ~

Hello Charlie!

I was on youtube and I've (re)found an interesting youtuber which is called "pellek"!
Basically he's doing cover of anime opening, japanese song and even some american songs in metal version (nothing "hardcore" don't worry :D); I have to say that it's really amazing and I hope you will think so! *.*
Here are his cover of Adele ("hello"; I admit that this one is quite cringy but at least I've tried to include something else than asian stuff >w>), BabyMetal (Karate), Yuri On Ice's opening (don't fangirl, don't fangirl, don't -) and Tokyo Ghoul's opening!

Not only his covers are amazing but also his videos' thumbnails as you can see UwU"

ENJOY! ♥

When good jazz meets anime

Konichiwa Charlie!

So as you may know (I don't know if I already talked about that), but behind the long haired metalhead that I am, there is also a huge fan of Japanese anime. I could do a complete series of article talking about my favourite anime but I'm sure that will bored you like my last series on metal.

When you generally talk to people about anime, you're most likely going to have "oh yes, I loved Totoro!", "I watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid!" or "Anime? Isn't that something for kids" as answers. My goal here is not to show how the last one is wrong in so many ways (I could do a whole essay about it), but rather showing you an aspect that not many people know: music in anime. In fact music is an essential aspect of every movie or video, ans anime make no exception.

I know that in the seconds there is at least one fan of Japanese and Korean music (hello Dana!), but here the music comes from America, Yup! And no it's not rock, but jazz!

So I'm not an expert and I might have forgotten some awesome stuff, but here are some tracks that I think are quite worth to listen to.

Baccano's! opening: Guns and Roses
Now this one is probably my favorite opening ever, though it's not extremely complex jazz it does all the work it's asked, and I have to admit that the rhythm is quite catchy. Also, if one day you want to have some nice music playing in the background, you can listen to the full OST, it's full of awesome jazzy stuff. Also: the anime is a pure masterpiece, it's like Pulp Fiction but in the 30's in the US.

Hellsing opening: Logos naki World
Hellsing is one of these animes that have such a unique atmosphere and that is now one of the main classic that you have to watch... that I haven't watch already, sorry. But although I don't know the anime, the opening is perhaps not one of my favourite opening ever, but it surely is unique in its genre and the piano playing in the background really has something that I like.

And finally, certainly the most iconic jazz track in all Japanese animation:

Cowboy Bebop's opening: Tank!
What can I say... the intro is catchy, the bass does an awesome work and the sax solo in the middle is a pure masterpiece. Cowboy Bebop is one of the biggest classic of Japanese animation, and its OST and opening are certainly one of the main reasons why people love it so much: good jazz and rock that everyone loves. Definitely worth a try even though the animation might seems old to some persons.

Here is it Charlie, hope i could make you discover new things. If you like it tell me, I might do another one on another style of music. From now on, have a good time listening to good music, and I'll be seeing you when I get back from Canada!

Bye!

Who wants to see something pretty cool ?

Hello dear Charlie,

So, it's been quite a long time I haven't talk to you. I'm sorry about that.
Well, I just wanted to share with you some anime movies I've recently discovered. I thought they're great, so...
I hope you don't mind Japanese cause they're all vost(fr, couldn't find it in english)

1.  Le Jardin des Libellules (Hotarubi no mori)

It's a 40 minutes long movie, and god every minute is just... magical.

2. Le Jardin des Mots (Kotonoha no Niwa)

This one is the sickest animation you'll ever get to see. It's so confusing it even looks real sometimes.

They're both pretty popular, but for those who didn't know about these, you should rush on it, even if you're not a fan of anime.
See you!

MUST SEES of the week!

Hi Charlie!

This week on FRANCE 4, something AMAZING is going to happen. The channel will broadcast three fantastic animes by Hayao Miyazaki.

He co-founded with Isao Takahata the Ghibli studios which produce masterpieces since 1985 (I wasn't even born!!!). Their films distinguish themselves from others mangas by a special atmosphere, musics and drawings: a wonderful feeling of being so small in such a huge world with endearing characters (and so kawaii!!!). Moreover, each film sounds like a fable with a morality and a message of hope (it always begins rather bad and ends up pretty good).

Princess Mononoke deals with nature survival in an industrial world, - still a nowadays' challenge for our modern society. To put it in a nutshell, I'd like to quote this from one of the characters 'you must see with eyes unclouded by hate'.
It will be broadcast on Sunday, the 25th (tomorrow actually ^^) at 8.50 pm.

For their part, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle will be both broadcast on Wednesday, the 28th from 8.50 pm.

I hope this will make you want to discover them, or discover again, and that you will enjoy them as much as I do...
