The Best Thrift shop's in Marseille + how to thrift efficiently

Hello Charlie, you must know that buying clothes in a thrift store is a completely different experience from going shopping in a mall like “les Terrasses du Port” everything you find is unique and you can be sure that in high school no one will have the same top as you.

 

The best thrift shop ( to have the best deals )in Marseille ( you may know it) is near rue Colbert beside the “ Vieux Port” it is called “ Boutique Kenza Friperie” the t shirts cost 1.5€ the trousers and jeans 2.5 € the prices are low for a reason, they do not do any selections so you can find things that are stained or with holes, you need to look but when you find you know that it is THE perfect piece.

And you will be happy to know that during the holidays the entirely remade the shop and it is now by colour and they moved things around so it is easier to find stuff.

 Then there is the " Recyclodrome" it is not the cheapest nor the most convenient because it is only open on Wednesdays and 2 Saturdays peer month. But sometimes ( not always) There is free stuff, they have like a big bin where there is all sorts of clothes and you can just take them, they have jumpers, trousers, t shirts, scarfs... You just need to look!

Obviously there is a shop inside but it is a bit overpriced and it is not only clothes.

Now the next best one is not at all in the center it is around Marseilleveyre it is a " Emmaus" and one of the biggest in Marseille, the clothing section is huge and the prices are more than reasonable here is there websitehttp://www.emmaus-pointerouge.com/ , you can find all sorts of clothing there is a big shoe section which i recommend because they only cost 5€ and there are some nikes, Adidas, New balance... There is also a big bag section, lots of jewellery ( and books, chairs, and just lots of stuff)

 

 

Now on how to thrift: thrifting came take a very long time if you look at every single thing, so to be more efficient the idea is, to have in mind what colours you want and what material you like to wear or how it looks ( real denim, pure cotton...) this is some thing you get use to.

Don't buy on an impulse it can be hard but when you find something you really need to think, am I going to wear this and possibly invent 5 different outfits you can wear the piece with. That way you will be sure that it will not be abandoned in the back of your wardrobe.

Kürtőskalács IS DELICIOUS

Hi Charlie, today I wanted to write about one of my favorite things: FOOD 😋

But not any type of food, today I will make you discover a very good Hungarian dessert that I myself discovered when I lived in Budapest. It's called Kürtőskalács (you can also call it Chimney Cake but there is no fun in that).    

It's basically dough that you wrap around a cylinder in a swirly way that you roll in sugar and/or cinnamon; then you bake it. The baking process is hard to explain we will use the help of pictures. 

They are delicious and you MUST enjoy them warm.

I used to eat them a lot in winter. We could find them on Christmas markets but since my arrival in Marseille... I was never able to eat one of these delicious desserts. 

But not too long ago, my family found a place in Marseille that actually makes some! It's called Twist Avenue and it's at the beginning of Rue de la République. They are very good and it was a very nostalgic experience for me.
