Hi Charlie !

Before coming back to classes, I would like to share with you some amazing moments of my hollidays. Indeed, my summer 2016 was the most beautiful in my entire life.

The 4th of July, I went with my mum to Athens in Greece. It was the first time for both of us. I was surprised to see how Athens had evoluted since its height during the Antiquity and also how its evolution since the euro crises. I was really surprised by its beauty. The modern style of living grown all around the ruins which are well maintained. Monuments are everywhere in the city. You can't walk 5 minutes without discovering something. The weather is really hotter than Marseille. The landscapes are more arid and the beaches smaller.

At the end of July I went to Amsterdam with my cousin. It was her 21 birthday's present. I really enjoyed the canal with its romantinc atmosphere. It rains a lot overthere but I guess Amsterdam wouldn't be that beautiful without people able to ride a bike and holding an umbrella in the same time ! (Some of them can even text on their phone !)
I obviously went to coffee shops because as you all know, weed is legal in Amsterdam ! Funny experience ;D ..
I was also surprised when I first saw a prostitute in a window ... Around all the sex shops .. Our bedroom was just next to the "red distrcit".

The Red Light District

Finally I went to London at the end of August where I saw some of my dad's family member. We went to Manchester where I also first met some cousins and my aunt et her husband. I really enjoyed this trip because the goal was more than only tourism but also a family reunion. I really enjoyed London and the people overthere. They are funny in the way they dress. It's strange because some of them look really serious and some just completly crazy. Music seemed the center of everything and Amy Winehouse was everywhere (yes I am a fan).
In Manchester they have a lot beautiful churches and everything is build with brick. Manchester sounded like an industrial city.

My holidays were amazing ! hope yours were good too !

Be yourself,
Amma.

  1. These pictures are absolutely beautiful, I love them! You must have a great material to take those.. I particularly like the one in London, with all these small buildings! The greek ancient buildings must be breathtaking to see. I find the idea of imagining the population back then frequenting these places interesting. The church looks a lot like the Big ben tower! How's that ? Must be the same achitect's work...
I wish I had that green bike though.
Also the beaches in Greece, they must be gorgeous! I've never been in this country before, that's a shame :(

  2. If your trip was as gorgeous as the photos you have taken, it must have been incredible! I mean that is from internet right? Otherwise, you need to become a photograph.
I did not have the chance to visit thoses countries but I would love to especially after the description you made. for example, it is interesenting and pleasing that the Greek live surrended by ruins.
Was the weather in Amsterdam that rainy? Because if people can actually ride a bike with an umbrella and text at the same time, they must be used to.
I hope you will be able to see your family again soon ;)

  3. What a beautiful trip, it makes me want to go visit Greece now!The pictures are so wonderful that I can't even imagine how gorgeous it would actually look in real life. It seems like London is a fun city and I can't wait to go there for many reasons (eat the REAL fish and chips is of these reasons haha >w>)! I feel like everybody went to Amsterdam this summer, is it because Marijuana is legal there?^^ Jokes apart, I'm happy you had a great time visiting these cities! If I could recommend you a country to visit, it would be Portugal! I've been there this summer and everything was amazing : food, how nice people were, museums, etc...

  5. Your pictures of the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon are really good! I went once in Greece, but it was in Creta so I have never been to Athens, but it must be beautiful. I think the contrast between old monuments and modern buildings is really interesting, it's like a time capsule!
Amsterdam must be dangerous, i wonder how people can ride a bike while holding an umbrella and text at the same time ... it's maybe some kind of national sport, who knows ... ;)
Besides that, I'm sure it's a gorgeous city, I will hopefully go there soon :)

  7. hey Amma !
I really liked your post and pictures, and I think you're very lucky because you had the chance to visit all these places in only one summer !
I personally went in Amsterdam this summer too, and I loved it (just like you did). It was such an amazing city and a really cool place ! I loved the canals and because it rains a lot the city is green everywhere! I have to admit I didn't go in a coffee shop :') but besides the fact that marijuana is legal, Amsterdam is a beautiful city, and people are nice too.
I wish I could go to London again, this is one of my favourite city in the world, (with Amsterdam actually), and I've never been to Greece, I think it must be a really beautiful country and it has a great history too..

  8. Athens is amazing! I've the feeling that Greece, Portugal and Amsterdam were the European destinations this summer for a lot of people! I also went to Athens during holidays and to Chios which is one of the closest Greek island to Turkey (there's much debate these days about this island because many refugees who are fleeing Turkey are in Chios trying to go to the continent ).
But anyway I was really surprised about Athens and how nice the Greek people are !

    1. Hi Amma!
      Great article and pics!
I'm actually very curious about it because my cousin has been to Greece this summer and she was super excited about it and came back with lots of great anecdotes! She told me that she had been really surprised by the architecture, it was totally different from what she thought it would be! Actually she thought that Athens wasn't as modern as it is. Were you also surprised? Was it as you expected it to be? She also told me that she had been surprised by the number of huge avenues in Athens, do you agree?
I also love your pictures of Amsterdam and London. I've been to Amsterdam a long time ago and I would love to go back there. I've been to London several times too and I think that your pictures describe well the atmosphere of this amazing city!

You had a great summer, lucky you!

  11. What to say...? As many people already told you, your pictures are absolutly beautiful and the places you went to seem to be appropriate to take beautiful pictures, especially Greece and Amsterdam too ! Actually I also had to go to Greece during the summer holidays but we went to Ireland... And it was not the same weather at all, at least I hope so for you !
Now I want to go to Amsterdam to learn how to ride a bike, hold and umbrella and text at the same time, it must be very difficult.
I hope you enjoyed your holidays and that going back to school is not too difficult now !

  12. Okay, reading this made my morning. I absolutely love traveling and the places you've visited are beautiful. I've never been to Greece ever but your trip makes me want to spend all my life there haha. My dad has been everywhere around the globe due to his job but never brings me along because most of the time i have school. how tragic is that? just kidding, i'm jealous but it's okay because he always brings me gifts and of course plenty of pictures and videos.
    Enough talking about me...
What happened to you in Amsterdam is Hilarious! I heard about Amsterdam's reputation but I had no clue whatsoever that it was that "bad" if that makes sense.

London is in my bucket list, I've never been there either! I know, I know what a shame. But don't worry I'll go soon eventually ^^.

Wow I need to stop rambling so much
Haha, have a nice school week I guess ;)

I've never ever been to Greece before but your experience there makes me want to spend my entire life there. My dad most likely went there. He travels the world due to his job but most of the time never brings me with him because I have school. Ugh how tragic is that? I'm totally jealous but it's okay, i'm not too mad because my dad always brings me gifts and of course pictures from his travels.
