Elephant Song

Dear Charlie,
This is a bit last-minute, but you're welcome to accompany me to see "Elephant Song", a Canadian film starring the one and only Xavier Dolan, Bruce Greenwood, Carrie-Anne Moss (from "the Matrix") and Catherine Keener, at the Gyptis on Thursday 8th (yes, this Thursday!) at 8 o'clock. Remember it's only 2 euros 50 at the Gyptis if you're under 20, so it's always worth giving it a go! It's a thriller set in a psychiatric hospital. Spread the word to all your friends! Meanwhile, I hope you're enjoying the new term!
All the best,
Mr Leah

  1. Thank you for having given us the opportunity to discover first the Gyptis cinema which has great programming and second thank you for making me discover Xavier Dolan as an actor ! I just knew him as a director and now I know he is also a really good actor ..I think playing a crazy person is not that easy! I loved the movie , I cried ( like always) and I can't wait to see other movies with those actors !

  3. This film was very good and Xavier Dolan in addition to be handsome is a super actor! His interpretation of a crazy man was stunning and impressive. I have to admit that I wasn't as motivated as I currently am because I was exhausted and lazy by the idea of going to the cinema after school but I don't regret this at all! It was a very intersting movie that I absolutely recommend. It was also a great opportunity to discover the Gyptis cinema that is located near the high school. Tickets are only at 2,50 euros which is a pretty great bargain!
Only three words : go for it!

  4. Even if I could'nt go to the cinema with you, I've could watch it from my bed with popcorn :3
And it was really great! The actors (including future husband Xavier Dolan), the realisation, the soundtrack, I enjoyed all of it, especially this astounding ending. I think it's a very good movie that makes you reflect about life, thanks for your advice!

  5. I didn't get the chance to go to the cinema with you but i watched the movie at home and really enjoyed it. it's a pretty good drama that results in a lot of psychology. The interpretations are good. i tink people should watch it if they haven't yet.

  7. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to go and see this film. At first I wasn't quite sure if I was going to go because it was at 8 and I was quite tired after quite a long day at school and very glad that I did go! It was an excellent film, very interesting, and I really do recommend it to the people who have not seen it. I can understand how Doctor Lawrence was in love with Michael his character was quite attaching. A very sad and lovely film that I once again recommended and probably watch again in the future.

  8. I'm totally watching it tonight, Xavier Dolan got my heart aha. Thank you for giving us the opprtunity to go and watch the movie even though I couldn't be there with you..but there's no doubt on going to the Gyptis Cinema at least once, it will be great for my money. So apparently there's a love story? Plus it's a sad-ending movie? Oh that's not good for me. I hope I won't reflect about life for too long, I'm too young to become crazy! Don't spoil me though, I want to discover the end by myself, thank you again :)

  9. Elephant song was spectacular! I have never watched Xavier Dolan as an actor and even if he had a strong and hard character to play, he was stunning. I'm not a very emotional person but that movie was moving and not only at the end in my opinion; it's probably because of those incredible actors! The film wouldn't be the same with other artists.
The Gyptis cinema is small but great and cheap. I also discovered that the photographer JR (who I really like) had posted on their facade!
Anyway, great experience, to do again.

  10. I really liked this movie, thank you for giving us the opportunity to see it! I will go back to the Gyptis cinema for sure, it's cheap and the original versions are always better. Xavier Dolan ( ah, my dear Xavier Dolan ) was great, and the intelligence, the dark and childish sides of his character made him very attaching.
ALl of the actors were really good and it was well written, I will recommend it to a lot of people

  13. "Elephant song" wasn't a very elaborated movie but Mickeal (if that's how you spell it) was such a great character! ( not just because he is played by Xavier Dolan XD) I really loved him!He manipulated people so easily and while having so much fun i couldn't help but admire him. Until the end (which i won't spoil if it hasn't already been spoilled by other comments). I recommend it to a lot of people, as well as i recommend the Gypsis cinema to each and everyone of you who will read this comment!
