Hello everyone!! I am just here to say that I am atheist so every single religious aspect for this subject is not concerning me !!
The English language is a interesting puzzle composed of thousands of languages, a mix of cultures and much more.
However, three languages outshine the others, taking most of the English language with them.
These languages are Latin, Greek and, on a lesser known note Old Norse.
The latter might look unknown to most of you. In order to explain it to you I will use a stereotype in order to describe it.
It is the Viking's language.
NOW, BEFORE YOU IMAGINATION SOME KIND OF GRUNTING BEARDED MEN IN FRONT OF A FORGE HEAR ME OUT.
This language isn't actually composed of that many "R" letters. The main letters are I, E and The þ (th) which can be found in Old English texts.
The remains of this language can be mainly find in Icelandic (pretty place, pretty language).
Now, you might be bored, you might want me to shut up about this, BUT I WILL NOT.
LET ME PRESENT TO YOU
*drumroll*
THE OLD NORSE "ALPHABET" (one of them)
Firstly, if you ever call this an alphabet in front of me I will get violent.
This, is Futhark.
More precisely, younger futhark here below.
ᚠ = F
ᚢ = U
ᚦ = Th
ᚭ = A
ᚱ = R
ᚴ = K
This is only the beginning of the younger futhark alphabet so go check it out if you're interested (I am wayyyy too lazy to copy paste anymore characters)
NOW, FOR THE BECOMING HISTORIANS
You can actually DATE a script and assume the place from the characters !! This is younger futhark 8th–12th century, there is also Elder Futhark 2nd - 8th century and, my personal favorite since I can write it is... Short twig Futhark (Norwegian short twig Futhark to be more precise).
But all of these wonderful scripts where destroyed during the christianisation of Scandinavia (12th century) :((((
Also check out the link below 👇 (it's a translation website which will show several runes) !!

Wow, your article is fascinating and has a really nice flow to it. Did you learnt old norse when you were younger or has it become a special interest for? Sorry if the answer is obvious, I don't think I know much about this culture and its history
