For my first article I'd like to introduce you to my favorite kind of music : K-pop! :D
Some of you might know Kpop because of Psy's famous song "Gangnam style", which was a catchy song indeed but K-pop is much more than that and that's why I'm writing this article.
It's pretty hard to explain the way the K-pop industry works and all of the background so maybe I'll write a second part later which will explains all of the details etc...
Generally you have to know that in South Korea, the three biggest agencies of Kpop are JYP, SM and YG (more hiphop music); which all have differents concepts. However there are a lot of others agencies which have good kpop bands as well!
For example, my favorite kpop band is BTS (aka Bangtan Boys), they aren't from one of these big agencies but despite that they climbed the ladder and recently they've won the "daesang award" which is the best award you could win (basically it includes best album/best artist/best mv of the year)! ^w^
I know that we don't all have the same music taste etc, but I'll try to put some songs that everyone could like (I couldn't find the "real" mvs for every song so that's why there are subtitles sometimes)! feel free to tell me which ones you liked in the comments so I could recommend you some others artists! :p
Blackpink - Whistle
Bobby - Holup
BTS - Blood Sweat Tears
Twice - TT
Suga (rapper from BTS) - Agust D
Red Velvet - Russian Roulette
Wonder Girls - I feel you
I would have liked to put some more but I know that you are like
Sooo ;.;
Anyways, if you liked none of these songs, tell me which kind of music you usually like, and I'll try to find something similar in the "Kpop world" (okay no Dana you better stop).
Good bye ! :D
So, at first I really wanted to be a good student and listen to everything you recommended (since I know nothing about K-pop). But I didn't (haha sorry Dana but I think you got a little carried away with your suggestions). I liked the first one (super catchy) and the one called Russian Roulette.
ReplyDeleteHuhuh I know I've put too much, but I really wanted to show you the differents style that Kpop has ^^
DeleteAnyways, I'm glad you liked Whistle and Russian Roulette! :)
Thanks for the suggestions ! All the songs were pretty catchy in my opinion and I liked them so maybe I don't really know K-pop but I found it good !
ReplyDeleteThank you I'm glad you liked them! If you are curious and want to discover more let me know I'll be happy to send you some more :)

ReplyDeletewell well well this article was great! Thank you for sharing specific videos because whenever I want to discover new songs, I get a bit lost and confused and I forget to write down the titles so thank you because your article is clear and even if they are -maybe- too much songs to listen to, I loved them! Maybe they are a bit too commercial but as you said we all have different music taste. Thank you again and see you tomorrow!
You posted an article! Bravo! So, I knew couple of those songs and I have a minimum of Kpop culture thanks to you. I really like to discover new music and I like the fact that there are different types of Kpop (if you know what I mean) for example, Hiphop kind of one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your article. :*
Yeahhh if you like hiphop style etc you should listen to YG artists in general (I recommend you the song "Anthem" by ikon, by the way), or even Zico/Jay Park!

ReplyDeleteDana, you and I both know about my past with k-pop music...
ReplyDeleteIt was the first gendra of music i ever discovered on youtube by myself as a child ( also some unknown bulgarian music haha). I knew you would post an article about it, and i'm so exited to hear some more feedback from everybody!
I absolutly understand that the K-pop world is complicated and not for everybody, although we can i think all agree on the fact that every single music video has really great and creative videography!
congratulations on your first article yay!
Yeah yeah I remember your SNSD's cover uhuh >w>
DeleteIndeed, I'm also very happy to receive some feedback even though I know that not everyone (except me) have watched all of these videos x)
Thank youuu ! :p
I never was a fan of Kpop but actually i always appreciated Asian culture and especially the Japanese one because of the "craziness" that they show in their advertisements, animations etc... and that's what I can find here too so thanks for this article
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, and thanks for your comment! :) ♥
Deletei should write an article about k-pop in the future, since i spend like half of my days watching k-pop videos on youtube. and singing k-pop songs. and dancing to k-pop songs. btw I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE WONDER GIRLS r.i.p they were one of the best girlgroups ever.
ReplyDeleteDo so!! So that I won't be the only person who's literally spamming with all of my playlists xD TRUEEEE BUT LUCKILY WE GOT SUNMI WHO MADE A BOP WITH "Gashina"!!
DeleteK-pop is not my kind of music but this article is useful because some person could descover this style and maybe like it.
ReplyDeleteWONDER GIRLS !! No need to say that I've followed this girlgroup for such a looongtime now , i'm so sad that we are at the end for this legendary era for Kpop since all the bands from this era are disbanding following one another :'( ....
ReplyDeleteAnwyay , I'm really happy and suprised to see an article about Kpop here since that's one of my favorite style of music ! Great article by the way ^^ !
xoxo , Abdel
I usually hate k-pop but Blood Sweat Tears was actually really good and the video was on point. BTS' dance moves were also on point and I think that its interesting the differences in music that you can have in genres such as k-pop.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Thanks for your comment Selena! :)
DeleteI love k-pop and my favorite band is also BTS! My favorite song would probably be Not Today. I'd like to know what is yours!
ReplyDeleteHeyy you!! Mine is Cypher pt.4 or House of Cards! :))
DeleteThank you for making me discover the k-pop world ! I listened to all the songs (yes I did) and even though I didn’t like everything, I realized that k-pop was much more various that how I thought it would be ! Actually I used to have a bad image of it, thinking that it’s only mainstream, commercial music, but I’m glad that your article proved me I was wrong. Among all the songs, the one I liked the most is Holup by Bobby :)
