Hi Charlie,
In this article I will be talking about barbie. The doll and the animation movies(someone else will be talking about the Barbie of 2023).
Barbie was created by Ruth Handler, coufounder of Mattel. She used to see her daughter play with adult doll made with sheets. She decided then to create Barbie to give her the oportunity to dream of her futur. She named the doll after her.Her named was "Barbara".
As a woman Barbie has been part of my life since childhood.
She showed me that women can be what they want to be.
There is actually a catchphrase that point that out, it's "You Can Be Anything"
My favorites Barbie movies growing up were:
In the last years Barbie has so much change. The doll is not anymore blond, tall and skiny, she's also black, curvy ,short and even handicap. Barbie is the first doll to show inclusivity.
For me BARBIE is the most important doll, if you think like me then you're from barbieland.
Hope you liked the article.
I loved your article as you summarized the history and the ideology of the doll really well. I think the first movies are iconic and even now sometimes I watched them back and the animation, the voice acting and even the script make me laugh but also make me nostalgic
ReplyDeleteHi! I really like your article, I haven't seen that many Barbie animated movies but I do remember 'Barbie as Rapunzel' being my favorite. Did you know that in the Barbie universe, Barbie is actually an actress, that is why she changes nameand there are 'behind the scenes' at the end of the movies.
ReplyDeleteYou took me back to my childhood by mentioning Barbie and the Diamond Castle. I will be 100% re-watching that! Thank you for this article that made me remember my childhood movies and made me realize how much Barbie has impacted kids all around the world!
