Those amazing movies that you probably haven't seen.

 Hello Charlie !

The Lord of the Rings, Back to the future...It's all great, but what about watching something else tonight? (Don't kill me for saying this, I'm still a huge fan of both) here are a 5 amazing underrated movies (and 1 TV series) that you probably haven't seen... just to give you some ideas ;) !

1-Ex Machina

Genre : Sci-Fi

Director :Alex Garland

Caleb (Domnhall Gleeson), a brilliant 26-year-old coder, is recognised as the best in his company. In doing so, he wins a stay at Nathan's (Oscar Isaac) villa, a successful CEO renowned for his incredible work on artificial intelligence. When the young coder arrives, he will meet Ava (Alicia Vikander), one of Nathan's creations, in order to perform some kind of Turing test... But not everything will go according to plan, neither for Caleb nor for the CEO.

2-The Guilty ( original version)

Genre : Thriller

Director: Gustav Möller

(For some reason, there is now a new american version with Jake Gyllenhaal, which I haven't seen and I fail to understand the real point of re-making a movie, but here I'm talking about the original danish version)

Assigned to receive emergency calls, Asger Holm (Jakob Cedergren), an officer with remarkable empathy and involvement, receives a call from a woman. The woman appears to be the victim of a kidnapping, and the policeman tries to solve the case from his small office, hearing the danger only through the telephone line.

3-About Time

Genre : Romantic Comedy, Sci-Fi

Director : Richard Curtis

On his 21st birthday, Tim (Domnhall Gleeson, again) learns from his father (Bill Nighy) that the men in his family have the power to go back in time, giving them the freedom to change the course of their own lives. He meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), immediately falls in love with her, and tries to seduce her. But dealing with his own feelings and his power is not necessarily compatible...

4-DeuxMoi

Genre : Dramatic Comedy

Director : Cédric Klapisch

Rémy (François Civil) and Mélanie (Ana Girardot), both in their thirties and tired of their daily lives, live in the same flat, in Paris, without knowing or talking to each other. Suffering from the loneliness which often comes when living in big cities, they struggle to meet that "special someone"... But maybe that person is nearby?

5-Children of Men

Genre : Sci-Fi, Dystopia

Director : Alfonso Cuàron

Children of men takes place in a dystopian world where humanity is no longer able to give birth, leading it to its imminent death. In this surrounding chaos, only Great Britain’s people survived despite the war and the pandemic. Theo Faron (Clive Owen), the hero of the story, one day meet Kee (Clare Hope-Ashitey), the first pregnant woman in 18 years. He decides to protect her and her baby at all costs.

6-(BONUS) The English Game

Genre: Historical Drama

Director :Julian Fellowes

1870. Football was considered a sport for the wealthier. However, a group of workers, coming from a lower social class, will fight in a class struggle in order to be able to play, and to democratise this sport so that it becomes as we know it today.

It is a bonus, as it is a TV series, and not a movie ! But it is very pleasant to watch, even as a person who knows nothing about football, like me :)
