Hello Charlie, it's been a long time!
Today I would like to share a series that I really loved, I hope you like this article and that it will make
you want to watch this series!
The Queen's Gambit
Presentation :
Name of the series : The Queen's Gambit
Directed and Written by : Scott Frank and Allan Scott
Genre : coming-of-age miniseries
Country of origin : United States
Original language : English
movie release date : 2020
Summary :
It's a story that takes place in the 50s, 70s and follows the life of a girl named Elizabeth HArmon. This
girl is an orphan and will develop a sudden passion and curiosity for chess, which the title of the series
therefore refers to.
This series mixes a lot of different subjects like addiction, sentimental issues, alcohol and drugs. But
this series is also based on emotions, the love of the game and the development of oneself.
Why did I start this series?
A friend had recommended this show to me for a long time but I didn't really want to watch it because
I thought it was going to be boring. I'm not keen on chess so I didn't think this series was going to
please me. I was extremely surprised and absolutely loved it !!
a little anecdote:
In the series, I noticed a poem we studied in class "he was not waving but drowning" by Stevie Smith
when Elizabeth was studying poems in class at her orphanage.
What did I like about this series?
I really loved it in this series !!
First of all, I was amazed by the sets and costumes. This era allows us to immerse ourselves in fashion
in 1950 until 1970.
The images were also fascinating, the formats used completely immersed me in the universe of the
series.
The dialogues and the story are also very interesting. Unlike a lot of shows, I found The Queen Gambit
to convey a lot of emotions through facial expressions, words, and the unspoken and obviously it
taught me a lot about chess!
Also, this series is short, it only lasts 7 episodes so I couldn't get enough of it.
I strongly recommend it !!
Hello Anouk,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your article, it was very catchy, perhaps a bit because I love the Queen’s Gambit. However, I also enjoyed your way of introducing us to this amazing series. For instance, the fact that you made a part for your opinion, that you presented the director and even the main actress, these little details are all very important to know about in my opinion so it was a really great idea to include them. Moreover, although I’ve already seen it, this article still made me learn some things about this series, therefore thank you for your article :)
Hello Anouk,
ReplyDeleteI think that your article was very well written! I remember you recommended this tv show, I watched it and I loved it!!
The fact that you presented the director and the actress was very interesting
The colors in this series was really amazing, all the work behind every aspect or every little detail of the Queen's Gambit. Anya Tailor Joy was really great in the main role too.
ReplyDeleteI had already watched The Queen’s Gambit but I really liked the fact that you talked about the director whom we usually don’t talk about. Especially with this one who has a very unique way of showing what is happening in her head when she plays chess.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your article ! It made me want to watch it again!
I read the queen's gambit a few months after it got out on netflix. I really loved the emotions and representations of this series. I really liked your article because it has information about the director and Anya Tailor Joy (who did a great job in this series). Thank you for your brilliant article !
