Another kind of girl
Hello charlie!
I wanted to write this article to talk about a short film I recently saw! It's a documentary called " Another Kind of Girl" that gives us a view of what living in a refugee camp is like. It was filmed by Khaldiwa Jibayi. She is a young syrian women who was forced to leave her country for jordan, to live in a refugee camp with her family. She stopped school in 9th grade to take care of her family. In the documentary she films common scenes of camp life and talks about how filming makes her "feel accomplished". I found this documentary very moving and revealing!
I invite you to watch it for yourself: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/01/27/opinion/another-kind-of-girl.html?referer=

ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting video. It really shows what refugee camps are like. All the pictures and videos, and press reports we are shown are filmed and written by journalists and reporters under the influence of governments. This is an innocent and honest testimony from a young Syrian girl. She is living in a camp and has lived a war, so her video is realler than any press article. I see this girl as an Anne Frank from our days.
ReplyDeleteShe explains in her video her life in the camp, and she shows short videos of her siblings, the camp, the sun raising and setting, and just simple images of her everyday life.
