Dismaland





Dismaland was a temporary artistic project makes by Banksy. It was located in Weston-super-Mare. It was a dystopian amusement park that opened the 21 of August and closed the 27 of September.




  

It was composed of 58 artistic works and there were concert every Friday. This theme park satirises the actual society, the artistic words approach: the theme park, unpleasantness (the welcoming staff has been asks to be unpleasant), the refugees, the bombs, the war, the pollutions, the death, the overconsumption, the capitalism (money), the security, the scientific research, celebrities, animal conditions, industry, nowadays distraction,…

Banksy has described it has “a family theme park unsuitable for children”. According to him it’s an “experiment in offering something less resolved than the average theme park. We just built a family attraction that acknowledges inequality and impending catastrophe.

It brought in 150 000 visitors from around the world, boosting the local economy of Weston-super-Mare.

The park will be recycle in shelters for refugees near Calais in France.
