VIP visits

Dear Charlie
When we were in Belfast, we were invited to meet the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Mairtin O Muilleoir

The City Hall is very impressive and the Lord Mayor was very nice and welcoming to us.

The students could sit in the mayor's chair. Here are Belfast future mayors...

The Lord Mayor received us with tea and scones and gave us all small souvenir gifts to bring back to Marseille.
We felt very special.

There's a nice tradition when you visit the Ciy Hall and meet with the Mayor.  When you  leave you're given a  flower

Then, we went on to Stormont, Ulster Parliament
It is also very grand and the park around it is huge and lovely.

Stormont is facing South towards the Republic of Ireland,  The avenues to and from Stormont shape the St Patrick's Cross

Stormont's beautiful ceiling with the queen's chandelier(only on loan) The vivid colors could also be found on ships as the paint comes straight from Belfast shipyards.

We were able to watch Ulster Parliament in action and we actually witnessed a new law being voted.
We were treated to lunch in the Parliament restaurant.

In the afternoon, we met with Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) Alban Maginness.

we had a discussion on Ulster political system, The Troubles, the Good Friday agreement, reconciliation and what democracy means especially for young people,

That was quite a day!
Best,
