Hello Charlie!
For my first article, I decided to talk about my favorite passion, Rock'n'Roll. It is a music genre born in the 60s. we can trace its origin to the blues, but that is another topic.
Some claim that today in 2018, the genre is dead and there won't be any other great band due to the popularity of hip-hop, rap and pop music. But is that really true? Is Rock'n'Roll really dead?
Will, personally, I don't think so. And here is the proof :
I'm going to introduce you the band Greta Van Fleet that are considered as the new Led Zeppelin . The band formed in 2012 by the 3 brother, vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka and there friend, drummer Danny Wanger. They originated from Frankenmuth, Michigan in the USA. Starting as a cover band, the slowly started crawling to the top. In 2017 they signed with the label-record Lava Record and released there first single "Highway tune" that topped the billboard during weeks.
The band was influenced by a lot of artist such as Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, but most importantly, Led Zeppelin. The band is repeatedly accused of ripping off Led Zeppelin, listen to there first track "Highway tune" and compare it to "The rover" by Led Zeppelin. the two guitar riffs are a lot too similar, and the voice of Josh Kiszka is almost the same as Robert Plant's voice ( the vocalist of Led Zeppelin).

The Rock community is split to two sides, those who believe that Greta Van Fleet are just a Led Zeppelin rip-off and aren't original. And those who say that they can be the new generation of Rock'n'Roll, that the band remind them of the sound of the 70s and makes them nostalgic.
Of course that band just debuted, They are young and full of energy, the future of Rock may be between there hands and other bands that are yet to come and revive the genre.
I want your opinion.
Do you consider that Greta Van Fleet are the next generation of Rock or just a rip-off ?
And do you consider Rock'n'Roll dead or not ?
Hazem.
That is a really nice article, so for me rock and roll his not dead at all and I can see that it is pretty much the same voice.
ReplyDeleteSo maybe it is just about one song and the others will be different, but it's a great new band and they are young haha:
Rock'n'Roll is certainly not dead, there are too many fans and as you just said there are modern bands. I would say it's just not it's golden age but it is present for sure.
