Hi bloggers!
So it's been 21 days today that I haven't been using Snapchat or Instagram... Yes maybe for you it seems hard to imagine doing that but really it helps you focus on more important things. We all know that these social networks aren't good at all for us. You can feel tired because of them, because of your lack of sleep. You can feel angry if you had a fight with your friends or even being condescendant to your parents. It has been proved by the RSPH (royal society of public health) in England that 7 people out of 10 feel anxiety because of social medias.
By deleting Snapchat and Instagram I realized that I didn't need them to live happily. I personally think that seeing all these models on Instagram can be quite depressing for young teens like us. To come to the point, I've been doing that for Lent, for a total of 40 days ( without counting sundays :(, 47 days!).
You don't need to be catholic to do that, it simply a way to recenter yourself. For it to be benefit you need to stop something you think is particularly bad for you. It can be food, video games or it can also be the way you act in society. You can decide to speak better to people or to be more generous to others. Last year for example I stopped chocolate but you really have to be diligent, you've to say to yourself you cannot cheat! I also like the idea to fast for a day, once per month or once per week if you're not an active person. The idea is not to deprive your body from energy if you do sport everyday. You can do that in the weekend, more the saturday than the sunday because on monday you return to school. It detoxifies your body and makes you become aware of people who do not have food. It's a way to realize you cannot be complaining on food because we're all lucky to have some whenever we want. (If you also want to be less stressed you can try and meditate, I assure you it helps me a lot.)
It's never to late to start! There are 17 days left (without counting sundays ;). Enjoy life guys!
Why wouldn't you count sundays ??? I can understand deleting snapchat and instagram but come on, stopping eating chocolate and not eating for a full day... You must be really bold (or just.. silly?)
ReplyDeleteI've just read your article and I totally agree with you concerning social medias and the impact it can have on our lives, but still I think it can also be a good way of relaxing after a long day of work (if you use social medias with moderation), it can also be positive for us, I think !
ReplyDeleteit's called fasting and it's really good for you body. do your research.
ReplyDeleteA very good initiative at least as far as social media are concerned. I should maybe try it myself (although the ones you gave up are far too modern for me!)
ReplyDeleteWow. I am impressed. I totally agree with you on the social media thing. It's probably really bad for us but we just don't realize it yet. But I can't go a day with out looking at them, it's become like a drug. For instance, a week ago I was at 140 flames with my boyfriend on snapchat which is a lot but we forgot one day to said each other snaps and now we are at 0 flames and it was devastating haha. Even those ridiculous little things have become important and I know it's the case for many because all the teens want flames with all their friends which is absurd because it doesn't mean anything, it's all superficial.
ReplyDeleteOn the aspect of food and such that is dead for me. I LOVE FOOD especially junk food so it's not possible to do any kind of diet even though I've tried but it didn't last longer than 12 hours.
