Hello Charlie
I feel like I'm only writing about dead singers ( what a year ).
If you don't know him, now is the sad occasion to get to know him better : Leonard Cohen.
So here are 5 reasons to listen to Leonard Cohen
1. He is Canadian
2. He is a amazing songwriter. I think everyone knows the song Hallelujah, but not a lot of people know that he wrote it because Jeff Buckley's version is more famous.
3. If you are feeling sad, the lyrics will almost always correspond to your feeling.
4. His songs are like poems and who doesn't like a bit of poetry ?
5. Bob Dylan once said that Leonard Cohen was number One. (He then added that he was number 0)
Here is some songs that you should listen and I suggest you to pay attention to the lyrics.

I knew him by name because of Hallelujah but I never listened to any of his songs. Maybe I should have, the ones you shared are nice !
ReplyDeleteAh yes, Leonard Cohen ! My parents love them, but I don't know a lot about his songs so thank you for sharing a few of them. But I know that it was a very elegant man and very appreciated, it's too bad he died.
ReplyDeleteOk, first of all I didn't know Leonard Cohen wrote Hallelujah, it is a shame (you can see the limited culture I have). But after listening to theses songs and other ones, I really enjoy what he did. I find the lyrics beautifully written, like poems as you said and even if they are sad, they convey strong feelings and can remind/affect everyone. So thank you for this interesting article.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure if Leonard Cohen's songs are to be chosen in a "happiness" playlist, though, listening to these is a real pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI particularly appreciate "Famous blue raincoat". Of course the songs you suggested are also great, thank you for sharing :)
These songs are so calming and the lyrics beautiful, and his work is indeed amazing
ReplyDeleteHe was my grandma's idol so I used to listen to his songs a lot. I am very sad about this I have to say... RIP Leonard :'(
ReplyDeleteThank youuu my dear! My family in Canada loved him so much (mostly because he was canadian but also because his songs are good!). And you made me listen to Suzanne during one entire week this summer, so thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThose reasons are more than relevant haha, you proved your point! Thanks for the songs, I didn't know the third one... (Btw you forgot to add Chelsea Hotel and I'm Your Man)
