It has been a long time since I posted something. So today I'll tell you a bit about my unforgettable trip to Canada.
First of all, lets talk about my host family. My host family was great, I am very pleased to have been put in their hands. They were very welcoming and friendly from the start to the end. They made my trip very enjoyable and they made me discover things about Canada. They made me go to different restaurants and fast foods like Tim Hortons to make me try new dishes. One thing that was surprisingly good was chicken and waffles which is, hints the name, chicken on a waffle with maple syrup on it. They also made us discover the logging museum which was pretty nice. Here are some photos:
I also got the chance to go to their family cottage by the lake for the Thanksgiving weekend it was very pretty. The trees all around were just so beautiful with all the different color leaves.
Then they also made us discover LaRonde in Montreal which is a attraction parc with many roller coasters. It rained a bit but when it didn't rain we could go on the attractions without waiting in line cause there wasn't a lot of people. So at least it wasn't that bad. I went on 8 different rides and they were all pretty cool.
And the most important about my host family is that I got along super well with my penpal. I was sort of nervous to find out who she was but actually it turned out that she's really someone I appreciate. Of course at first it's a little weird since you don't know her and you have to live with her but once we got comfortable with each other we got really close, so I was very happy. And here is a picture of both of us:
Now lets go on to the school experience. Well I have to say that school there is actually pretty different but nevertheless it's really nice. There you have to bring your own lunch box to school for lunch, they only work from 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM with only four classes of 75 minutes, at lunch there are a bunch of clubs that you can do such as music club, photography club, or even history club but those are just a few exemples and over there the teachers are super nice and very welcoming. Also at my school, which was Colonel By secondary school, each morning we had to stand up for the national anthem and they also had their own little tv show to announce the up coming events. It was really enjoyable to be able to experience a new education system.
And finally I'll talk about the different activities I did with the rest of the OIB class.
-We did a city bus tour to see the city with its famous buildings and monuments and learn a bit of Ottawa's history.
-We went to Pumpkinferno, which is a village made of carved pumpkins which are lit at night. It was beautiful to see.
-We went to fright fest which is a place with many haunted houses and attractions. It's a great place to go with your friends to get terrified. I had never done anything like it before and personally I don't like scary things but that was really fun however I yelled a lot but at least I wasn't the only one.
- And finally we went to the Byward Market for a scavenger hunt, we visited the parliament which was very impressive to see, we had a tour of the museum of history and we went to reception at the Embassy.
And that was my trip to Canada. Those two weeks went by just too fast. It was amazing and unforgettable so I'd like to thank everyone who made this trip for us come to live cause we are all very thankful.
Haha, I read about the chicken and waffles stuff and I immediatly knew it was you ! I have to admit, I was very surprised but that was actually very good. May I add that I was in the same family and I agree 253% with Fanny, they were all great people and we were both really lucky to be with penpals (or "buddies") that we got along with really well ? Never mind I did it already !

ReplyDeleteYou took the most amazing pictures, especially the ones around the lake (I saw then one hundred times but I still love them).
I didn't know that you went to La Ronde in Montreal! I went there twice during summer and loved it, this place is the holy temple of poutine, waiting lines, rain and screams! So much good memories...
