I know, I know it's been a while since I haven't written anything to you! Please forgive me because I have a good excuse: I was in Thailand!
So let me tell you more about the amazing trip I had the chance to do!
My mother's best friend is Thai and lives there for two years now so we came to visit her (and Thailand for me as it was my first time there).
We flew from Nice to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Bangkok at the end of July. Arrived in Bangkok we stayed there for a few days at my mother's friend's apartment (it has a swimming pool at the top of it, you can see in the photos how much life was difficult). We visited Temples and malls (of course!).

Then we left the city and went to the country, in Klongwan, a village near the ocean. It was really pretty and the people were sooo nice (they stared at me all the time, maybe because I don't really look like the typical Thai girl ahah!). We stayed there for a week (or so), we went to the beach, saw monkeys or just acted as vegetables do.

We came back to Bangkok but only for 2 days before going to... Chiang Mai! I found this city so cool and attractive (even if there was A LOT of tourists also called "fareng" by the Thais)...! We saw and touched cute tigers and went to a lot of markets: by day, by night, food or little things markets, both... I really enjoyed being there. We also did a one day trek, we saw/rode elephants, walked into the jungle, "swam" in waterfalls and visited a traditional village! It probably was the best day of my trip to Thailand!!

We then came back to Bangkok (again), where we would stay for the end of the holidays before flying back home :( But surprise! We only arrived in Bangkok that a bomb exploded in one of Bangkok's biggest mall... The atmosphere there became really sad and stressful and it was hard to go out without wondering if something will happen.
The 22th of August we took a plane from Bangkok to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Nice. It was an awesome trip that I will never forget. Thailand is a magical country, very paradoxical because of the wealth, but still really interesting! The people there are extremely nice and I think Thailand is called "Country of smile" or something like that and guess what... IT IS MORE THAN TRUE!
Hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as I do, Charlie (and all the OIB of course)!
See you soon (as we are going back to school in a few days, ugh!).
Bye :)
Thailand is so beautiful and reading this makes me want to go there as soon as I can *-*

ReplyDeleteYou also got the chance to ride elephants! I'm jealous haha! Elephants are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteGreat article and great photos!
Thailand is beautiful!
I thought thailand was way more urbanized than this! But Jesus holly christ, those forest are absolutly beautiful! It may be quite wild (i guess?), but walking in there must be quite an experience! But, isn't it too warm?
ReplyDeleteAll these things seem really interesting, I'd like to see them in real life !
ReplyDeleteAlso, that baby tiger is so, so cute...
I'm glad you avoided the bomb! Thailand looks really interesting and beautiful. You may want to go and see the films of Apichatpong Weerasakethul, one of which, "Cemetry of Splendor", is out at the moment. Tim Burton gave one of his films the Palme d'Or when he was President of the jury at Cannes! (Mr Leah)
ReplyDeleteKellian, it actually is a paradoxical country (jungle and city everywhere!!!). To answer your question: yes it is really warm and has mostly humidity, but it is certainly bearable (well I did it so I'm sure everyone can) and it is a great experience!
ReplyDeleteDana, I wish you to go in this incredible country!!
Mr Leah, I will look at things about this movie on the internet, the titel sounds really interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Thailand two years ago and I agree, it is such a beautiful country full of beautiful cities and landscapes and where the people are so nice and smiling!
I also visited Bangkok and I took exactly the same picture as you (the third I guess, in What Pho Temple)
But didn't you find that it was very very hot? ( and that the swimming pool was welcome!)
By the way, did you appreciate the Thaï food ? Wasn' it too spicy?
It's funny because people were also always staring at me and touching my hair(I'm kind of 'Strawberry blond', I'm not sure that's the good word but is a mix of blond and red hair, so it was not usual at all over ther!)
I'm happy you avoided the bomb, for my part I was in Thaïland when the military putsh happened, it was very impressive because there were tanks and military forces everywhere, and we weren't allowed to go out between 22pm and 5am. But it was the very end of our trip so it was OK.
I want to go back to Thaïland!!
I also went to Thailand last summer (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the islands (Koh Tao, Koh Samui)) I absolutely LOVED it! The people were the nicest, the food was amazing (I'm a fan of asian food so Thailand was like food paradise for me, I ate noodles for 2 weeks straight), and the landscapes, monuments and beaches were the most beautiful I've ever seen! It's my favorite country I've been to so far and I can't think of another country I haven't visited that could top it
