Dear Charlie,
During the last
holidays I went to the U.S.A and I wanted to share with you my trip in
Washington and Louisiana. I visited Washington due to a connecting flight
problem. Even if when I visited the city it was frizzy and a bite unanimated, it
is a great and beautiful place. I unfortunately had the time to see only four
monuments: The Capitol, The White House, The Lincoln Memorial and The Obelisk.
Then, I went to
New-Orleans. There are a lot of beautiful streets in the French Quarter such as
Bourbon Street or Canal Street. I saw the Saint Louis Cathedral and I also went
to a jazz concert. During the night, those streets are really busy and very
animated.
After visiting
New-Orleans, I went on the plantation road. I saw the Oak Alley plantation and
the Nottoway. Those two plantations are very different. Oak Alley is a small
one in park with a lot of trees. On the other hand, Nottoway plantation is much
bigger with a beautiful garden and a great park. The day after, I arrived to
the city of Natchez, Mississippi, the city is crossed by the Mississippi river
but there aren’t a lot of interesting things to do there. Then I went to
Lafayette, to visit the reproduction of a traditional city of the Bayous. In
Lafayette, I also saw a Bayou with alligators and a lot of beautiful birds.
After exploring
inland Louisiana, I went back to New-Orleans for the New Year even. On the way
back I saw a museum about the traditional inhabitants of the area and I visited
the Tabasco factory. The French Quarter was even more animated than usual and
sometimes I couldn’t move due to the crowd. People at balconies threw necklaces
to people downstairs. Traditionally, those necklaces were thrown on Mardi Gras
evening and man threw those to ladies who in exchange had to lift their shirts.
After this last night
in Louisiana, it was time to come back home.
