MY TOP FIVE FAVORITE VIDEO-GAMES

 Hello, Charlie.

Today I want to talk about my top five video-games ever. And this won't be easy, because gosh are all of these amazing... But I'll try my best to narrow it down and put them in order
Also, if you feel there was a game I should've put instead of another, remember I said these are my top five favorite games, not my top five of best games.

without further ado, let's get into it

#5: Marvel's Spider-Man 2

I haven't finished this game yet, because it's a PS5 exclusive and I do not own one, but I've thoroughly played it, and it is absolutely amazing. The grapics are superb, the animations smooth and detailed, and New-York has never felt so dense, the map absolutely huge. It's a true pleasure to swing through it as either Peter Parker or Miles Morales, both having their own distinct abilities, Peter having the symbiot suit and Miles having his electric powers. The story is amazing, fleshed-out and epic, better than all spider-man movie combined (unpopular opinion, don't roast me in the comments). One aspect that has been criticized a lot by fans is the RNG (random number generator) system, making for repetitive fighting occuring in the city after completing the main story, but I didn't play it long enough for it to be an actual problem

All in all a truly beautiful game, including a vast array of suits to pick from to make your journey as a hero all the more unique!

Although, it is a bit pricy, and you have to own a PS5, so not a cheap experience...

#4: Hollow Knight:Silksong

I've already talked about this one thoroughly in my previous article, so I won't get into it much, you'll have to read it ;)
It's a platformer where you play as Hornet, a popular character from the prequel Hollow Knight, in a mysterious and foreign land...

I love this game, the art, the music, the gameplay, what's not to like? This one however is on all modern software and is very cheap so go play it NOW

This is where it gets complicated... This top 3 was really hard, and the order isn't always the same depending on when you ask me, but let's go with that

#3: The Legend Of Zelda:Breath Of The Wild (commonly known as Botw)

This game doesn't need introduction anymore. It is one of the best selling game ever. As of March 2025, it sold 34.51 million copies worldwide. It was released in early 2017 on the Wii U before being ported to the Switch and recently getting an upgrade in graphic quality and framerate on the Switch 2.
This is an open world adventure game, where the protagonist, Zeld- I mean, Link, explores the land of Hyrule 100 years after a disaster than wrecked everything in its path. Our hero awakens on the Great Plateau, in the center of Hyrule, the perfect playground for newcomers before you can finally go down into the main land, and from there, you are free to complete the main quest, side quests, or explore, all in any way you want. The story requires you visit four locations on the map before heading for the castle, but the game lets you do it all in the order you want, skipping the four waypoints altogether if you feel brave enough. Even after finishing the game, there is a lot to do. I've fnished the game three times, and once in extreme mode, and it's always just as fun as the first time. Even on my first save I keep playing, because there are still hundreds of things to do, places to discover, people to meet, quests to complete, and Koroks to find (these little "§ç!ù%/=<) Anyway, a game I strongly recommend, playable on Wii U, Switch and Switch 2. You can also play the sequel, Tears Of The Kingdom, on Switch and Switch 2, which would've deserved a spot in this list but I have to keep this short.

#2: Sonic Frontiers

Finally, a Sonic game
You were probably worried I had forgotten I was a Sonic fan

This game is actually quite similar to Botw. It is Sonic's first open-zone game. You play as the blue blur, rushing at top speed through five different islands (actually it's just three different island, we know what you did Sonic Team), collecting the Chaos Emeralds and fighting Titans to save your friends, and the world. The first island is Kronos, a lush and green place where you fist wake up to discover the game, next is the sand-scarred Ares and last is the sky-high volcano above the clouds, Chaos. We then go back to Kronos, on another part unexplorable before called Rhea and then to the last island, Ouranos (which is again just Kronos, we know what you did, Sonic Team). This game was infinitely fun, thrilling to explore, packed with fun puzzles (except when you reach Chaos, why so many 2D sections?? We know what you did, Sonic Team), the interactions between the characters are more heartfelt and realistic than before, and Roger Craig Smith's Sonic has never sounded better.. His voice is deeper, closer to his real voice, and it makes Sonic so much better wow it's so good.
The gameplay is solid, with a skilltree you unlock through completing puzzles and fighting enemies, unlocking the Chaos Emeralds is done by running through the Cyberspace levels spread across the islands, unlockable by defeating Guardians to obtain Gears, etc. It's an engaging game and great on the first playthrough. I say first because it is unlikely non-Sonic fan will appreciate it enough to continue playing it. Even in the Sonic community, there's recently been heavy controversy surrounding it, people changing their minds on it. But, unlike Silksong and Spider-man 2 which I've not finished, I have played this game for over 130 hours since it came out in 2022, and I've completed it at 100%, so I can safely say it's truly an amazing game. I won't get into it too much, but it's also gotten three free DLCs, saving most complaints about the game, most of all being the last one, with Ouranos getting fixed, with three new playable characters and a new fnal boss. That was epic.

The revisited Final Boss of Sonic Frontiers:Final Horizon

Last thing on this game before Number one; the music is incredible. Each island has a main theme, in seven movements moving at your pace when you progress. My favorite is Kronos, its theme is amazing. The Boss themes are also incredible, pumping punk-rock in your ears
as you pound down a robotic titan while Kellin Quinn screams for you're "What you get when the stars collide" and for you to "Break through it all"... I get chills. The lyrics are so epic, people are quoting them in their Steam reviews
Play it, and you'll Wake the beast inside

 100% 😎↑

#1: Sonic The Hedgehog 2006
This one is very controversial (I can already hear Damien saying HELL NAAHHH)
But yes, the infamous Sonic 06 is one of my favorite games ever.
This game from 2006 (who knew) was supposed to be a turning point for the franchise, the new standard, so much so its name is just Sonic The Hedgehog, no subtitle. Sadly, it was incredibly rushed so it could release on the 15th birthday of the franchise, so what we got was a game with infinite potential, but that felt more like an extended beta version instead of a full release. Endless loading times ranging anywhere from 20 seconds to a minute, instant frame drop if you even think of pressing the jump button, sending you in slow-mo purgatory if there is over two enemies on screen at the same time, poor graphical quality, slow characters, cringy motion-capture cutscenes, the worst character in the whole franchise (Princess Elise), Silver's Dusty Desert causing infertility to an entire generation, and the list goes on. So why is this my favorite game, if it's so flawed? Well, for two main reasons: I can see the potential, and it outweighs the negative. Second of all, all these issues ended up being more fun than actual problems (except Silver's Dusty Desert, that thing took 30 minutes to clear and I've not been the same ever since... I can still hear the screams). This game is one of the most hilarious games I'v ever played, and it's not even intentional! It gave us classics like Sonic saying "That tornado's carrying a car!" when the tornado behind him is carrying way more than one car, Shadow's legenderay "Let's... get... MOVING!!", or Silver's obnoxious "It's no use!".
But more gameplay-wise, the levels are really good. If you just ignore what I listed up there, this is probably the best level design I've ever seen. The game has three distinct stories to follow, each filling every hole the others could have had. They are: Sonic's Campaign, where you play as Sonic and squad, for instance Knuckles and Tails, then Shadow's Campaign, where you play as Shadow, Rouge, Omega... and Silver's Campaign, where you play as Silver and Blaze. Each of these characters can explore the same levels, which might make you think "well it's just an excuse to reuse every level" except every character plays differently, so no level is actually the same. For instance, Sonic's Dusty Desert is kinda fun, whereas Silver's Dusty Desert is just...

When you beat all campaigns, you unlock The Final Story, where all characters team up to find the Chaos Emeralds so Sonic, Shadow and Silver can take on the final boss: Solaris.
Another thing that this game introduced was the villain Mephiles, one of my favorite villains ever, he's just so badass

I have personally finished Sonic 06 on the PS3 and it is quite the achievement, because it's already neigh unplayable as it is, but the PS3 version is even worse.. You know how many words I wrote so far? That's probably how many times I've died in 06.
Fortunately for all who would like to try, Chaos X and a small team of dedicated fans have took it upon themselves to remake the game for PC and give it the glory it deserves. Soon will release the final big update of Project 06 (aka P06), adding the final story and Boss fights.
And the music as always is truly amazing, I recommend you listen to the OST

Also fun fact, the voice actor for Sonic 06 was Jason Griffith, and I can do a perfect impression of his voice. Come see me if you're interested :D

I think that's all I had to say, thank you for reading so far. Have a good day, and as always, see you in the next one
Alright.

See ya
