I recently discovered an artist and I very much like his music, but I thought that I hadn't talked about him very much, so here I go!
His real name is Robin Skinner, he is 20, and if you listen to his music you'll most likely know him as Cavetown. He started out as a music youtuber and later on released singles, an EP called "Dear", and more recently an album called "Lemon Boy". His music style can be described as indie pop or sometimes Lo-Fi.
He has a relatively small fanbase (100k views on most of his music videos), but I am happy to see it grow every day!

If you don't know where to start, here are my favourite songs of him :):
- Fool
- Poison
- The big bowl in the sky
- 888
- Talk to me
- Dear
- Dysphoric
- 16/04/16
(All of his songs to be honest).
I hope you'll like his music! Here is the link to his youtube channel :).
If you like his music, I also recommend that you listen to American pleasure club, Elijha who, Chloe Moriondo and Sophie Meiers.
It's so cool you made an article about Cavetown, since I had never heard about him before, especially not from you ! What a great surprise !
ReplyDeleteYeah i know! Also, did I talk to you about that strange adventure when a weird circle object was sent to my house?
DeleteThank you Lino for making me discover this artist ! I've never heard of him, have you found out about him recently ? Probably, otherwise you would have told me about it before posting this article ! I am sure it is a good artist, because I know you have good music tastes : does it sound like the last artist you made me discover, IgoRRR ?
ReplyDeleteYes, I found it recently, I would have told you if I hadn't :) and no, not exactly it's good notheless, don't woRRRy
DeleteOh dang, how is it that you had neveer mentioned him before ? Smooth way to show his chameleon by the way.. also I very much hope the pun you made with "seeing it grow" (lemon, grow, you see what I mean?) was intended !
ReplyDeleteI don't know to be honest, it's just that I'm not obsessed with him at ALL. Also yeah,I had to talk about caspar, such a bop (pun definitely intended btw)
DeleteHow have I not heard of this?? I hope you discovered this recently because I would never forgive you if you didn't tell me about it as soon as you found out about it. On my way listen to lemon boy, can't wait to draw loads of fanart!! By the way, when we were at parliament I saw a lady with a lemon hat.
ReplyDeleteOf course I discovered tbis recently! And wow, i've never seen ANY of your fanarts of lemon boy! For the lemon hat lady though, i believe ot because it's you, but that's quite a far fetched story
DeleteIt’s very funny because Cavetown’s music is not at all the type of music I’m listening to, however I love it ! I have just discovered it thanks to you. It is calm and "light-hearted", just what I need at the moment. I’m particularly fond of his new one « Smoke Signals ». Thank you a lot for this wonderful discovery !
ReplyDeleteGradiva you took the words out of my mouth ! Waow I really like his songs ! As you said is quite lighthearted and I like the subjects he talks about, it is also a bit depressive sometimes and we love that :)
DeleteI was looking for articles to comment on when I found yours and I'm so glad I did! I listen to a few of cavetown's songs and they're all really great, reading this made me want to discover more. This article was posted two years ago and I think that his music might have blew up since then because I've heard a lot of other people talking about him too
ReplyDeletethank you so much for making me discover a new artist, i actually listened to his music, and it’s pretty cool i admit.
ReplyDeleteTwo years later I can tell you he's much more famous than he was back then! I actually discovered him recently thanks to spotify recommendations and I'm happy to see other people talking about him and enjoying his music! I loved this article and thank you for recommending chloe moriondo at the end, she's one of my favorite artist and I also think their styles are very similar!
ReplyDeleteA friend told me about this artist a long time ago, but I forgot his name and then I couldn’t listen to his music…so thank you for reminding me this! (I was so annoyed this one time because the only song my friend made me listen to was really poetic and moving…) I don’t know much about Indie Pop or Lo-fi, so now I’m curious ! But where can I start, could you tell me your favourite ?
ReplyDeleteHey sorry for the kinda late answer, but if you enjoy this style of indie pop I would recommend Dodie (she's absolutely wonderful), or Joji (he's very recently released a new album too, NECTAR, and it SLAPS).
DeleteI hope this helps, if you want some more just ask :)
