A cool place to hang out with your gamer friends

Hey there Charlie, how are you doing?

I guess everyone here is kinda sad that we have to go back to school and will soon share their memories of their holidays. Even though I went to Scotland (which was a nice trip), something really did change my holidays.

You see, I'm a gamer, and I'm proud of that. So I grabbed a couple of friends with me and we went to a place in Aix called the Meltdown. "But Kellian, what is it?" Well basically, the Meltdown is a brand of what we call E-sports bars. This is a bar with computers and consoles, where you can meet a bunch of random guys (and girls) and just play together around a drink. There, we met some really nice people, and we probably had our most memorable games of Super Smash Bros or Overwatch. This is really crazy, everyone here is nice. And you know the best part? All the consoles and PCs are free to use! No joke!
...
Well, to be honest, we can't call them PCs, those are real war machines, just take a look at this master piece:

So yes, everything is free, but it's best if you buy a drink to thanks the staff for their awesome work (those people are really nice btw). Speaking of drinks, as you can guess, we are talking about a bar, so you can't really buy alchool if you are under 18... but I can assure you that they have awesome alchool-free cocktail. But still, if you are under 18, you are still welcome, as soon as you are nice with the others and you take care of the machines.

As I said, you can just walk in and play, but they also do events, like tournaments or meetings between the diffrent meltdowns of France (or even Belgium). And most of the time, there is even a cash prize for the winner (well, it's generally between 50 and 200€, so that's pretty sweet!).

I think I said pretty much everything! I hope I hyped you a little bit about this awesome place. But again Charlie I have to "warn" you: this is a place for gamers, if you don't play any videogames, you might feel a bit "de trop" as would say Mr Leah.
Well then goodbye Charlie, here are some pictures of the bar to show you how it looks like:

See ya Charlie!

  1. Well Kellian, I can always count on you to make me discover new things. ;) When I go to Aix, I like going to Book in Bar (How could I not?!) and I am not so sure, I'll be going to the Meltdown (most likely not, but then I'm always up for new discoveries and you never know, maybe I'll try it and realize I actually love videogames)
Just for the record, I'm not sure about our right of image on the photos featuring people, you might want to take them off.

    1. Well it's on their official web sites which can be consulted by everyone... so I guess that's alright? but if you want I'll suppress them no problem

  2. Woaah it looks cool! Do we have a lot of choices about the games? I mean, is AION or any Gameforge's game available on their "machines"? Because as I told you last day I don't have much storage on my computer so I would really like to play to AION there! Oh and really important question : do they have the PS4 ? Because if they do, I guess they would be able to bring the Attack On Titan game!

  3. Unfortunately (or not), the bar is extremely focused on multiplayer games. So if you want a MMORPG (except WoW), you'll have to upload it yourself on the computers. The point of the bar is to have fun with the people around you, so unfortunately I don't think either of these games are awailable. But you can still try ^^

  4. I totally agree with you Dana! I would love to play an Attack on Titan game! But how do you think we could play in numbers? Maybe we would all try to survive while titan are running around! I'd be so much fun!
By the way, the "ambiance" (how would we say that in english?) in that "bar" looks great! Just by reading your explanation and by the pictures it feels like a very nice place to go(and resembles the OIB apparently, it looks like a big "family").
The fact that it' free is great (i'm often broke...), do you go their often? Or is it closed during the week?

  5. How did I not know about this place since I'm a gamer and I lived in aix? I absolutely need to check it out! It seems like heaven and a really cool place to just relax and spend some quality time with friends. I Will most likely force my dad to come with me there. Why? Well... We're doing a sort of "game journey" where we play as much as games as possible and the winner gets the recognizance of the other. And a gift or something we still haven't figured out haha. We're very competitive and I hate losing ( by the way that almost never happens)
I really like overwatch! Very addicting game. There is also free to use pc's? Wow. I didn't even know places like this existed in france, I feel illuminated.
