Hello everybody !
Some of you might know I'm obsessed with (my) hair, and a lot of you might know that I love dying it.
Well, that, and the fact that I completely mutilated my scalp yesterday evening, are the reasons I decided to write this article.
I hope you will enjoy it, and that by Monday our classroom will look like a rainbow (even the teachers) !
~First : Choosing the colour~
Before you do anything to your hair, it would be nice to actually know what you want to do.
So, it's completely up to you what colour you like : but you might wonder what will suit you the most, or what your parents will let you do !
For your parents : maybe they would prefer a natural-looking colour. But if you want another colour, I would recommend something not too shocking. For example, red is a pretty common hairdye, and the darkest shades are not too shocking, especially if your hair was dark to begin with. Sometimes, they will agree for coloured strands only, or maybe a tie-and-dye if your hair is long enough, more easily than for a complete haircolour.
As of what will suit you the most : Anything because you're beautiful.
It depends on your skin and eye-colour. For example, I decided to dye my hair platinum blonde for the summer because it looks good with tan. I also know that black hair looks great with blue eyes - but be careful, for black is a very strong colour and it might be difficult to get used to. But sometimes, the only option to know is to actually try it ! (You could ask someone to photoshop you with that haircolour if you really want to know, though.)
~Second : Do I have to bleach it ?~
Well I would recommend not to bleach your hair, for it hurt me like hell and I still feel like I am wearing a crown of thorns as of today.
~2.1 : Should I be scared of bleaching my hair ?~
Not particularly. Some people do not even feel it hurting, and some people feel like someone is cutting their head open with a chainsaw. If you really cannot bear the pain, you can throw your head under lukewarm water and give up. That's what I did but I lasted 20 min - that's why I will do the platinum strand by strand this summer, and as of now, I'm just a very light blonde. By the the putting-the-colour-that-really-hurts-part, your hair is already blonde because of the scrub. (Of course, dying without bleaching does not hurt at all !)
So. It depends on your current haircolour, and the one you want to have. If the colour you want is darker than your actual hair, of course you do not need to bleach it. If it is lighter, you'll have to bleach it.
If your hair is black, I'm sorry, but there is no way not to bleach it.
~Third : Does dyeing it damage the hair ?~
Yes, it does, but really not a lot if you use a hairdye of good quality. You might not even notice it if the hairdresser does it.
Now, doing it several times might end up damaging it, that is why you need to take good care of it. As for bleaching, well it destroys it, so you will have to take very good care of it. But at least, it looks good !... right ?
~Fourth : I am hesitating... I am not sure whether it would look cool or not~
There it is ! I hope you learned some new things thanks to my article.
Gosh, I love talking about hair...
Haha, poor black haired poeple. Oh wait, does that include me as well? Anyways that article was really neat. Even if i'm totally sure i won't ever try to even if I think about it, it was cool knowing a little more about it. ^^
ReplyDeleteDye your hair pink, it will look great.
DeleteYour article was funny ^^ I think colored hairstyle is beautiful and original! But I have black hair and I don't want to damage it...
ReplyDeleteThanks ! Well, if I had natural black hair, I would not change its colour either !
DeleteHairdye and I have a very strong relationship. But it's mostly fictive. For now.
ReplyDeleteSame for me... Though whatever I would do to my hair would be easier to do than on yours because of their color ;p
DeleteKellian is telling me to tell you something rude and I approve his message. <3.
DeleteWell, it is quite easy to do a colour with your hair too. I mean, it is almost like mine, and I've been doing a lot of different red hairdyes on it. I even did "dark" pink once.
DeleteYeah I can get dark colours but they're not that appearant, and to be honest I'd like to get something a bit lighter ^^'
DeleteAhh it's such a shame that I have dark hair, because I've always wanted to get a grey ombre but first my parents would not allow me and also because I'd be too afraid of the result etc... But I've found a way to change my hair, you know there are so DIY to create your own lightening hair mask, so I've tried a few and it seems like my hair is lighter now haha!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really enjoyed your article, it was pretty funny too by the way :)
some DIY*
ReplyDeleteThis is the best article ever. I also have an obsession with my hair that is currently black but trust me not for long. I screenshotted everything so I can dye my hair once again.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of people that hate colored hair I don't know why it's fun, it's different. Nowadays everybody looks the same and it's boring. The colour you choose and also the style can describe your personality, who you are as a person. for instance, me, I died my hair so many different colors but my favorite was red I think because I wanted to achieve that "badass" look. Don't we all want to be a little badass deep down?. I think so.
How interesting ! I really like your article, I thing that it may help me to convince my mum to let me dye my hair in every color of the rainbow ! But I have a big problem : I cannot choose a color for my hair, I wanted to do pink, than blue (with the Kylie Jenner trend) and now peach ! Haha enough talking about me, like Yasmine I don't understand why people don't like colored hair : I LOVE it :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for that really helpful article ;)
This article is really helpful. Last year I dyed a lock of my hair blue, and it looked really cool, I really want to dye all of my hair but I don't think my mom would be ok with that. Also I wasn't sure what color I wanted but someday I will dye my hair for sure.
