Dear Charlie,
You have only two or three days to listen to a programme presented by a legend of rock music, John Cale of the Velvet Underground, the end of a season of programmes about Pop Art on 6 music (sorry it's a bit late, if you didn't see my comment on Tara's article). He leads us through records he listened to (back to early 60s), records he produced (The Stooges, Nico), and modern records he admires (by people like James Blake or FKA Twigs), and his voice is a great mixture of a Welsh and American accent (even though it sounds as if he's reading). Sadly he doesn't play any of his great solo career (showing he's a modest man!) but there's one of the great songs from the legendary "banana" album, The Velvet Underground and Nico. Get listening!
(John Cale's on the right, looking rather menacing)

And here's a great clip from a French telly programme of the 60s. You mainly see Lou Reed with Nico, but the spirit of John Cale's there too!

Finally, Cale played rather a good concert in Marseille in 2013. Did anybody else go?
