Studying abroad

Hey guys!

So this article is going to be addressed at the 11th and 10th graders more than the Seniors, for it is too late now for us. I just wanted to share what I have learned about applying to a university abroad, and some tips that I have learned and find useful to share.
So here are some tips that I have learned:

1st. If you already know you want to study abroad, start looking at the Universities and courses you want to apply to as soon as possible. It will help you next year when you have to make your choices and have to look at many courses from many universities trying to make your mind up. Also, I know it might seem like you have time, especially if you are in 10th grade this year and still have a year in front of you, but time goes by really fast and soon enough you will be running out of it. Therefore I would start looking at courses, checking out places, and looking at what really interests you, because one day, mid-october of your senior year, you are going to be not only running out of time, but completely confused by everything that has to be taken care of. You have to remember that you will only have more things to do as time goes by, so the earlier you start, the easier it will be for you to adapt to the sometimes difficult situations you end up in.

2nd. If you wish to study in the USA, start studying for the SATs ASAP because although it is not un insurmountable test, it is quite difficult, especially if trying to pass the mathematics level 2, which include some things that are not done in France until Senior year. Also, look at the prices and scholarships seriously, and do take it seriously, because unless you have the necessary funds to pay tuition, you are going to want a scholarship!

3rd. Try to assess your motivation and select the course and University that best fits you. This is necessary if you want to avoid the deception of being accepted nowhere. You have to be ambitious but realistic. There are some excellent colleges abroad but you have to be aware that the competition is tough, thus do try to your best to achieve the best grades possible if you want to be considered for prestigious establishment.

4th. Try to look at the requirements as early as possible. Applying to University is a process that can be long and complicated. It requires a lot of time and paperwork, meaning that if you do not have everything ready, it will take you a lot of time and bring a lot of stress. The application process can be complicated so it is good to anticipate so you have time to ajust if you need it.

5th. The Application rounds start and finish earlier for both the USA and the UK. Both countries end their application rounds in January or February which is earlier than the French system. Thus, you will have to be ready before the others, and that means having your Personal Statement and choices done and made before the others. You will have to manage between class and applying to Universities so you will not regret it if you have started thinking about it earlier.

Those are the five main tips I have to offer. I do have some more "small" tips and examples that I have acquired from my personal experience so do not hesitate to ask if you have inquiries. Also, the staff is here to help you, they know a lot about your personal potential. Applying to University is exciting yet frightening, so take your time and really think about what you want to do, and where you want to do it.
Good luck :)
