Well hello
Charlie, today I wanted to share a documentary with you, a
documentary which I think could actually interest anyone who's reading
this article.
“Winter
on Fire: Ukraine's fight for Freedom” follows the story of
Ukrainians joining in manifestations firstly taking place in favour
of Ukraine's association with the European Union during november 2013.
As
Viktor Ianoukovytch, who was then president, refused to sign this
agreement in spite of the population's mobilisation, a common anger
burst out, denouncing an abuse of power, and the protests
intensified. That's
when it really went wrong, the Berkut (police forces) intervened with a
massive violence, starting point of mortal scuffles.
"Winter on fire"
had me, both, admiring the wave of solidarity created among the
Ukranians as well as their fiery will of defending their rights and
their country's future, and wondering about how violent the police had
been, how repressive the government had been.
I vividly recommend you to watch this documentary which really is emotionally charged but I must advise you that it also is harsh visually, as the fascinating scenes showing unity and love are punctuated with violent and appalling ones...
M.
I am up to the test hehe, if you "vividly" recommend it then there is no disscution i'm going to find the time to watch it so we can discuss this striking documentary (see what i did there)
ReplyDeleteHehe right, you'll tell me to what extent you thought the scenes were powerful
DeleteIt looks interest, I might go take a look at it if I find it.
ReplyDeleteViolence, violence and more violence...
ReplyDeleteSadly, it really is chocking.. I think that it needs to be denunciated even though it is tough seeing, it conveys the feeling that giving up on any kind of freedom we acquired is inconceivable no matter what happens.
DeleteThank you for this article. That documentary sounds very interesting, you've made me want to watch it. :3
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'll certainly go and Watch it!
