Not voting, is it a good idea?

Hello Charlie.

So, I know that not many of us are in age to vote, but I think that because of the context, it can help some people to understand what is going on. So yes, sorry, the video is in French, but I couldn't find an English video about the French regional elections.
Enjoy, and think ;)

  1. Hello (it’s meeeee)
There are just some things that I wanted to say ^^

I won’t talk about the way he talks (which I find slightly annoying because of his pretentious note), because it is not very important and no one cares.

First, and really think that the way he talks about the right-wing and the left one is quite wrong. When he talks about the left-wing, he is referring to the PS. It may be debatable, but I think that their liberal politic and their different actions since 2012 shows that they are not a left-winged party. Other left-winged political parties exist (FDG, EELV…).
« La gauche ressemble à la droite ». I don’t understand how you can say that. I don’t think he bothered looking at the political programms, for example programms of FDG and FN, he would clearly see that this is absolutely not the same.

“Ce sera peut-être pire avec le FN” Maybe ?! I assume that you can not criticize what you do not really know, so I read the outline of the FN programm (almost vomiting on my keyboard). Anyone who is a litte bit interested in politics knows that everything is not the same. « Maybe it will be worse » I don’t even know what to say… FN is a dangerous, racist, xenophobic party (and I’ll stop the list here, it will be too long ^^)

I understand that some people don’t want to vote, but if you don’t want to choose between parties you don’t agree with, then there is the blank vote. It’s a way to express yourself and to give your opinion. I don’t think that the best way to express yourself is to remain silent.

“Refusez de participer à cette farce » If I have to be honest, I find it deeply stupid. Right to vote is fundamental and the choice of who is eclected has an impact.

“En faisant cette video je fais mieux que voter” …

Well sorry I did not want to write something that long :/ I just wanted to share my opinion on this video, I hope it was not too clumsy ^^

  2. To watch regularly his channel, I can say that he knows his subject. Also, in the description of the video, there are all the sources that he used. (I will update this comment later)

  3. If you say so I trust you I did not know his channel. I saw the numbers of sources :) But I don't think that because he knows his subject and that he has a lot of sources that he is right (if you can be right). :)

  5. Ok.....so this is a hard debate and I feel like entering it might be dangerous.
First, I'd like to make clear that I am against racism and fascism and all these. But I think that both right (not extreme right) and left ideologies have some interesting ideas.
I also think that we are lucky to live in a democracy. But I also agree that those who represent the people may not be as representative as what it should be. In our capitalist society, money becomes more and more important and it has impacts on politicians (from right and left wing). When it comes to voting, a lot of people choose not to vote. Yes, blank vote is an alternative but it is not taken into account so maybe they should consider it and ask themeselves why there are so many people who vote blank or do not vote at all (they might know the answer though but it is easier to ignore it certainly). Plus, there are a lot more people than politicians. Ideas can be stronger than money. When people will get sick of the system, they will act. Maybe we will.
Sorry if my comment is all messy...so is my brain x)

    1. I agree with you Tara! To me, even if you vote blank, it is important to vote. People fight for giving us the democracy and, even if it's not perfect, I believe that, one day, other people will make it better. Voting blank is showing that we agree with those people

  6. Well... I'm with you, but I'm the kind of persons who thinks politicians are more or less the dirtiest and most corrupted people on earth. And I think counting blank vote is a thing, but how? I mean, ok, people vote blank and let's say they are 60% of blank vote... well ok, but what about now? what can we do?

    1. Politics and money are too close...and I think that money corrupts people, so yes most of the politicians are corrupted, and those who are not, I think they don't have enough money/power to be heard. What can we do for now? Well...I do not have a precise answer of course but being aware and thinking of what are politics, how to improve things ect might be a nice beginning and hopefully we'll change things one day...

  8. (It's true, his tshirt is cool!)
I don't agree with all he said... I think that the blank vote is a good choice. When I will vote (probably blank), I will not vote for other people, for the executive, for the leaderships or for the political system. I will vote for me and for what I think positive for my country. When I will vote a blank vote, it's something individual, my little civic act. I think too that vote is not only a right but a duty. And it's not a duty towards "people who died for our right" but towards us: the citizens. Vote a blank vote can be a symbol to show to the executive that we are present, that the citizens are not sleeping and that they don't agree with what they are doing with OUR society.
