Chet Baker, born Chesney Henry Baker Jr., was a american jazz trumpetist and singer, and currently one of my favourite artists.
Chet was born in Yale california on December 23, 1929, and dead in Amsterdam on May 13, 1988. During his time, the artist released more than 60 studio and live albums, played the soundtrack for 6 movies and acted in 2, some considered him as the creator for the "cool" jazz subgenre.

Chet Baker was one of the musician that, in additon to having great technique, brought a great, new way of exploring emotions through their music. Brought up by a guitarist father and a pianist mother, Baker grew up surrounded by music, and, apparently decided to get into music seriously after a big love deception while beeing drafted in Berlin after WW2, where he discovered be-bop and modern jazz.
His music is full of emotions, but it obviously discusses love more than the rest. Chet really opened up the world of jazz to a calmer, slow sound, and to very explicit lyrics about emotions. Those combinations help him to create his sound, that can very well be seen in his 1956 album "Chet Baker sings", which was one of his biggest commercial success, and included the famous song "My Funny Valentine".
Overall, I really enjoy his music because of the really soothing, calm vibe there is to it. It also has a strong vintage sense, which makes you feel like you're in a 50's or 60's movie. IN conclusion, great songs to put on while working or reading, I really recommend his music to everyone.

Gotta admit,I love jazz but I also can never remember names, especially of the artists, so having this little bio about the author of such a classic as Funny Valentine (and to be fair I only knew the name of this song and listened to it thanks to JoJo's bizarre adventure) is very interesting and entertaining thank you.
