Hey guys so today I am going to talk about a book that really moved me.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur is to me the perfect combination between a poem and a story. Filled with strong messages " Loneliness is a sign you are in desparate need of yourself.", this masterpiece is divided into four parts which are named: The hurting, The loving, The breaking and The healing. It is escorting you through your journey of pain, in moments you feel the most empty. The author of this book finds her inspiration in people's life but also in her own. Therefore the content is entirely authentic and without any censorship.
I myself loved this book just because I am pretty young but I could still understand the meaning. Rupi Kaur's words make you feel important as it your existence suddenly matters. Her writing style's purpose is to make you more powerful and confident when you are at your most vulnerable stage or at least in this book in particular.
I noticed a dark atmosphere in Milk and Honey's first pages, the sentences are weighing you down. You feel the whole world weight on your shoulders and you are about to explose. I must mention that because I wansn't feeling gloomy when I started reading it but I had this agressive feeling. I assume Rupi Kaur wants all of us (the readers) to have the same experience at the start and then just let everything go in our personal ways.
I recommend you this book without any doubt, I know it can make a difference into someone's life just like it did in mine, by jusg giving me some peace. This book is so sensitive, if you have the opportunitu to read it and that you enjoyed it, then you will most likely love a song called Daddy Issues by The Neighbourhood. This song means to me that in life, people who don't show much complain and who try to always be happy are usually the most hurt, depressive, alone and they are masking their pain to protect people around them or they are too afraid to show their weakness. That is in fact the kind of things that Milk and Honey can teach you. This book can literally heal you if you let it its chance, so read it with pleasure.
I hope you liked it! Be free to post your own point of view in the comments.
Ok bye!😀
There are a lot of fans of this book in the Section (it was almost picked for the Book Club last year), so I'm expecting some comments! Thanks for the article!
ReplyDeleteI adore this author, I don't have the book but I've read some bits and I love it. It's very touching and warm, just like milk and honey ! thank you for the article !
ReplyDeleteI read that book when I was alone in my room in Ottawa (my penpal was working). I loved it quite quickly, the four parts are just so moving and I do think it is quite universal. This kind of poetry indeed can heal, and I also liked the connection that Rupi creates between her and the reader, and I do think this book comes from Rupi's heart. Hard not to love it...
ReplyDeleteWhat a sustained hype for this book, it's impressive ! I read some bits when getting lost on book shops in Montreal this summer and it really did seem like an interesting reading. I wish I could find time to read it!
