Hello Charlie,recently, I realized that too many of my friends had not seen the best film ever: Inception, by Christopher Nolan.
For those who really don't know anything about the story of this beautiful masterpiece, here is a resume:
Dominique Cobb (called Dom during the film) is specialized in the extraction, stealing secrets from someone while he's asleep by going in his dreams. This rare skill has made him one of the best in corporate espionage. But besides, Dom is also an international fugitive, and this costs him to be away from his family. Dom is offered a chance to return to his children, but to do so, he must accomplish something that one could qualify of impossible: an Inception. This very hard task consists in implanting an idea in someone else's mind, by making him believe it's his. But Dom's mind conceals a very dangerous enemy.
I know that all of you now want to go and watch this film, but please stay and read my article.
So, why is this film so good? Firstly because of the talent of Christopher Nolan, and all the actors (especially Leonardo Di Caprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt).
Indeed, the way the film is done, (in this film, I've seen some of the best scenes of the whole cinema's history, the one where Arthur is weightless in the "hotel" for example, which is my favourite scene of the film), the special effects are perfect, the scenario is complex but the film is still understandable,

Another reason why I completely adore this film is that everytime that I watch it, I understand something new, even though I already watched it at least 15 times.
The end of the film is also something that I very much like. I think that in this end, Christopher Nolan is Inceptioning us because after having seen this film, the only thing that you can think about is "is Dom in a dream?" (I have some theory about it, but I don't want to spoil anyone so I will not explain it here).
I really had a good time watching this film, and now that I have written this article, I want to watch it again.
I hope that you'll watch it, as well as other films of Christopher Nolan (I especially recommend you to watch "The Prestige") because he really is a very good film director.

ReplyDeleteI have seen Inception and liked it, and you enthusiasm throughout the article is pretty stunning! ('one of the best scenes of the history of cinema" you hyperbolic boy haha). I agree with you, Ithink Dicaprio is a very impressive actor. However,I am still trying to understand what's the point of 'The prestige', what's so interesting about it. The actors are good (Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Jackman, Chritian Bale (and David Bowie!!) if I remember well) and I certainly don't question Christopher Nolan's talent and abilities, but I think the film is quite insignificant and kind of irrelevant, but feel free to tell me what makes you like it that much. Sorry, I know your article wasn't mainly focused on The prestige, but life is full of unexpected events...

DeleteI can see why you liked this film but honestly... Well, I know you're gonna hate me for it, but I really disliked Inception and never managed to finish it (I tried to watch it twice or three times)
ReplyDeleteI know some scenes are incredibly beautiful but I never get interested by the plot and honestly I get a headache after 10 or 20 minutes of watching it.
I should try to watch it once again though, and I probably will (your article is so enthusiastic it's kind of contagious)

I agree with you on Nolan being a greater director, I'm a fan too. I think what you said about the film being still interesting after having seen it 15 time is true to most of Nolan's films (or to the ones I have seen at least). I felt the exact same way about Memento. However for both Memento (I don't know if you have seen it, if not i strongly recommend it) and Inception, you must admit that the plot can be very (very) confusing after watching those films for the first time.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very intriguing movie , I liked it at first even tough I didn't quite understand some of its scenes but after you do understand it , it's very much enjoyable and I agree on the fact that it never gets boring , you can't watch it once , it's impossible hahaha. Leonardo DiCaprio was just perfect , I feel like he is an underestimated actor and should be more appreciated and recognized for his incredible acting .
