The Guggenheim Museum

Hey guys !

Today I want to talk to you about a beautiful museum I had the opportunity to discover this summer : the Guggenheim Museum of New York !

This summer I had the chance to go to one of the most incredible city in the world, The Big Apple ! I had a lot of fun and discovered beautiful places that I want to share with you guys. The Guggenheim Museum is one of them ! The Guggenheim Museum of New York (Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum to be precise !) is located in Manhattan, near Central Park (pretty good spot I must say !) and is the permanant home of a beautiful collection of Impressionist, early Modern and contemporary art.

Before going into details about the amazing paintings I had the opportunity to see let me just focus this article on the architecture of this museum. The spiral design of this museum changes the presentation of the works of art. This museum really is different from the museums I’ve seen before when it comes to the way the paintings are exhibited.

Many famous artists have some of their work exhibited in the Guggenheim Museum of New York such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Pissaro, Paul Klee, Cezanne, Renoir, Chagall and many others !
My favorite painting in this museum is this one. It’s one of Modigliani best known painting.

I hope you liked my article (if it’s the case don’t forget to comment below) !
See you soon ;)

  1. Oh that looks like a great museum. I went to New York this summer too but I didn't get the chance to go to this museum. I didn't even see it. It would've been a great picture.

  2. It's that time of the year when everyone is going to post articles about their holidays (I'm looking forward to the seconde's articles).
Really nice though, I like that spiral shape, I really think the architecture of museum plays a big part in our perceptions of the works of art there!

  3. Do you think that the way the paintings are exhibited in a spiral building make them look better? I personally love when the paintings are placed on a white wall, I think it highlights the work. You're a such a lucky girl, you were able to see most of the famous pieces of art, or may I say, the legendary pieces of art!

  5. well i'm not a big fan of museums. i mean the art museums, because i didn't have the chance to visit them a lot but from what i've seen, it's not somewhere i would really love to go to. i'm just not that interested in paintings, but the architecture seems really great and original, i like it.

  6. Thank you for sharing your story and for showing us the pictures of this museum which looks indeed incredible by its architecture and the way paints are exhibited. The museum itself remembers me of Dali's art, because it is always "out of the way" and very authentic (of course it is not the same thing at all, not the same time I suppose) If I ever go to NY, I'll surely stop by.

  7. I have been there with my family a few years ago, and I enjoyed it as much as you did! To be honest, I wish I could go back now so I could appreciate the paintings fully, since I was too little to realize what I was looking at, at the time.. The Modigliani painting is beautiful by the way!

  8. I have been to this museum last month and it was truely unbelievable: there are masterpieces everywhere. It is so interesting to see the painting in real life knowing that you've discovered them all in books.

  13. The question is whether the most important thing in a museum is the achitecture or the pieces of art exhibited ? I personnally give priority to the latter. Recently I have been to the Art Gallery Museum in London, it wasn't as spectacular as the Guggenheim Museum from the architectural point of view but it was really amazing in terms of the variety and beauty of the paintings exhibited

  15. Absolutely love it! The ceiling inside the museum reminds me of a huge shell! I like as well the expressionists as Van Gogh, I also went to a museum in Moscow this summer where there was a lot of work from Cézanne, Picasso, Gaugin and many others even though the museum itslef wasn't so astonishing as the Guggheim one.

  26. Wow! I love this building's architecture! I have never been to the Big Apple and I really wish I'll be able to one day!
I did not know that many very famous artists like those had some of their works exposed in this musem...
That building architecture is very nice and clever because I think that to be really able to appreciate a painting, or an artwork, they must be presented in a good environment. In other words, I mean they must be in a musem where the works are not on top of each other, in order to make them appear more like unique. And, considering what I've seen on your pictures, it is the case here.
But is the museum only made of this 'spiral' part? Because I think it would be a bit small... But I may be saying a mistake...
And... Great pictures!, especially the second one.
