Hey everybody!
Today, I am going to write about an exhibition I went to last Friday during my free time.
I am sure everyone living in Marseille heart about it since there are posters of it all over Marseille. Well it happened that I love Matisse and Miro so I decided to spend some time over there.
Because of the posters, I thought there would be a lot of paintings from these two painters but I was quite disappointed because there were only one by Matisse and two by Miro. I figured out the posters were really to make people come but it wasn't representative of the actual exhibition.
Anyway! There were many different art pieces by several "unknown" (for me) artists and I found it great to see so much paintings by different artists on the same subject but with a different point of view or way of painting. I discovered some painters that I really liked such as Erro, Fernand Léger, Carl Grossberg, Max Ernst or Prampolini. All of them tried to represent the future in their own way and that is what was the most interesting about the exhibition.
Since I love analysing art pieces by myself and finding whys to the paintings, I spent about 20 minutes on every painting so my visit lasted about 4 hours! So if you are like me and you would like to go there (which I really advise), make sure you have time forward.
ps: the exhibition is free for students so try it!
Here are some painting I really liked : (the one from Max Ernst and Grossberg being my favourites)
Carl Grossberg, Maschinensaal (1925)
Max Ernst, The World of the Naive (1965)
Prampolini, Portrait of Marinetti
Céline
I wanted to go, and this article made it clear! I will go! :) Thanks for sharing!;) It looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteReally cool, I like the painting from max Ernst
ReplyDeleteI finally got around to going. You're right, Céline, I also recommend this exhibit.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to see if I can organise a school visit in September.
Great text and pictures!
ReplyDeleteI really like being attracted in an exhibition in order to see certain works by a special artist but then discovering beautiful paintings by other artists that I discover through the exhibition... And, I sometimes discover some paintings from an artist I didn't know that I actually prefer to paintings I knew, made by a well-know person...
I also like spending a lot of time in front of a painting I find interresting, to imagine many things about it: what was the artist's feeling when he made his work, what could the painting represent from different points of view...
And, totally different, I really like The Vieille Charité, because there are often very clever and fascinating things to see... And I recommend any reader of this comment to check very regularly the programme of this art centre!
Oh, and... I forgot... I really like the first picture you took, of Maschinensaal, by Carl Grossberg! Congrats!
