Hey everyone, today I would like to talk about a very recent series. It is in french but I HAD to talk about it because I enjoyed the first episode way too much to stay silent. This series is called "L'effondrement" and made by Les parasites.
Les parasites is an independent group of filmmakers and actors which started in October 2013 when they uploaded their first short film on youtube, Tentative 49. They have over 400000 followers on youtube and their most famous short film, Amour artificiel, got over 10 million views. Many of their short films have been made for the 48 hour film project, a film competition where groups of cineasts have to film a short movie in 48 hours in a random genre and with particular requirements(character name, quote, appearance of an object...). My personal favorite video of theirs is "jeu de société" and I'd definitely advise you to check out their work before "l'effondrement".
For the past 2 and a half years they have been working in collaboration with the channel canal+ to make "L'effondrement". The series is constituted of 8 episodes of about 20 minutes which will be uploaded in the next eight month, the first one having already been uploaded on November 12th.
L'effondrement will be a series about the collapse of society as we know it. It follows different people in the days following the collapse and shows its different consequences. The first episode follows a retail worker and his friends and shows, for example, the penuries caused by the collapse.
