Hey Charlie!
The article I'll write today is about a very famous movie I saw recently which is Elephant by Gus Van Sant.
It follows during roughly one day different students from a highschool while two them are preparing a slaughter.
What I really appreciated in the movie was the real ability of Gus Van Sant to simply film, his shots are not very sophisticated but still powerful. The mixing up the narrative periods were also quite interesting as different scenes are seen several times from a different point of view thus you have the feeling of a back and forth through time.
However the thing is that I've watched just before the shooting in Florida. When I was watching the movie I was really moved by the atrocity of the event and the raw aspect of the filming was helping into it I think. Thus when I head the new then after I was even more touched.

What a fine film! Have you seen other Gus Van Sant films? I particularly liked Drugstore Cowboy and Paranoid Park. I also loved another film where we're following the main character around, The Son, by the Dardenne brothers (I love them ).Finally did you know that Van Sant was inspired by a British film called Elephant by the late great and under-estimated Alan Clarke? I recommend you give him a try!
