Hey Charlie, I'm also going to be talking about the school I went to in Canada which is Osgoode.
Every morning is Osgoode the speaker olay the same thing first this : Then when everyone is in class this other song :
which is two very different types of music, you'll agree. Well to me, Osgood was as different as my usual school as those two songs.
It was indeed very different not only because of the decoration, the people but also in the way the class would happen.
Osgoode is a very colorful school, all the hallways are decorated, painted, there is no white wall. It's a very small school.
I loved the caf, it's the place where us french people gathered to eat, but students also gathered outside or in the halls. You could buy poutine, cookies, pop. On the wall they were pictures of every single class since the creation of the school, crazy !!
There are few class rooms that look a bit like the one we have in France, but the tables are more organized in groups. there is also something that I'm sure you've seen in the movies which is the tables attached to the chair I never saw that it's actually very strange when you chose the wrong side to get up. You just, can't.
In school, sport is also a big thing. Each school has his own team of different sport such as volleyball, soccer, american football. Teams of different school meet and play because there is a school tournament in each province. But they can also choose to take fitness class for example in their periods. During that class, that have to run as fast as they can for 10 minutes and after they workout with different types of exercies as lifting some weights or stretching exercices. It is funny to see because is it something you would rarely see in france.
For canadians, practicing a sportive activity is something really important. Almost all the teenagers are in a sport club: hockey club, soccer club, lacross...

Well it seems like a nice school. And I have to say that those desks attached to its chair is very awkward, I always felt uncomfortable cause I couldn't move my chair without moving everything. Anyways that's probably the only weird part of the schools over there cause everything else is just great.
ReplyDeleteAaaaah yes, those chairs... horrible. Stuck mid-way from the table whereas I usually take up as much space as possible, or sit as close as my body'll let me. Very confusing and they are the only thing I disapproved of.
ReplyDeleteRight? It felt so weird, you had to be at a certain distance from the desk... and this distance wasn't mine at all.
DeleteI agree with you, those chairs were utterly annoying. Other than that, I really liked the fact that the school was open about the lgbtq+ community, there were pride flags everywhere ^^ I also liked taking the school bus and all the lockers ("like in the movies") and I found the people there very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your article Alberta and Martin :)
