Retouched Photos in Magazines

Hi Charlie,
Today I'm going to talk about the retouched women in magazines.
In fact, when we read magazines, we are often jealous of the beautiful photos of perfect women with perfect bodies.
But we shouldn't because every single photos that we see is an illusion, it's a lie!

It's nothing more than a fraud because all the photos have been retouched before it is seen on the pages of these magazines. Of course everyone in the fashion or in the magazine industries don't deny it, because everyone is aware of that but I think it's crazy! These altered photos are completely unrealistic and they are showing unreal standards, so we are growing in a world where they show us a model of beauty which doesn't exist.

So it becomes nearly impossible for the women to feel beautiful, because with this photo-shopping everywhere, we are always comparing ourselves to women who don't even look the same in reality so it's unfair.

But instead of changing, the marketers are laughing because, let's be honest, whatever they're selling, we are buying it so in fact, they earn money and they don't care about the position of the women in the society.

Fortunately, there is more and more photographers who decides to show real women, without retouches, so this is more realistic and this is great I think, to show different ladies with different weights and sizes....

So in conclusion:
1- Put things into perspective, the pictures that you see are not the truth.
2- Don't compare yourself to fakes bodies.
3- Stars have professional makeup artist to do their makeup and they are always retouched after the shooting (they are ugly too when they wake up, don't worry....)
4- Just feel beautifuuuuuuuul!!! ;)

  1. Love your article ! It's important to know that some pictures are fake and I love stars who ask to be natural in their photoshoots.

  2. Everybody knows all these pictures are photoshopped, but sadly some women still think they should look like those fake women in magazines. If photoshop is convenient for some uses, it should not be use for that !
You are perfectly right, we should love ourselves as we are, because we're already beautiful !

  3. This is so sad that magazines still promote unrealistic standards, mostly for women. I agree with Dana, photoshop should not be used fo this. And it's a good choice to start publishing photos without retouches.
Thanks for your interesting article :)

  4. Good article! Women's magazines are responsible for so many problems, they really need to change their attitude. I call for a boycott!

  7. The theme of your article is very interesting as it is a real issue since a loooong time ago now. I totally agree with what you said here, except that I would add that we shouldn't compare ourselves, not only to "fake bodies" but to everybody actually, as the world/life IS NOT a competition!!!
There are more and more "bopo" websites, which are websites that promote Body Positivity, and I'm very glad about it! They spread messages like "Stop sexualising nudity", "Beauty isn't define by a size" or "There is no wrong way to have a body". There is even a british brand called Neon Moon that sells lingerie (and is defined as "Feminist lingerie") and had created a new size guide (38-40 is called size lovely, 42-44 size gorgeous...)! Go check their sites for a better understanding!
One last thing: DON'T FORGET TO FOCUS ON THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER!!!

  8. It's a little disapointing to know that all those pictures are some what lies. But it gives us more confidance in our selfs knowing that stars are't perfect like they seem. We should love ourselfs like we are and we shouldn't be ashamed. We don't have to compare ourselfs to others and feel down graded. Appearance isn't all that matters.

  9. The subject of retouched photos is really interresting! I think we should not forget that those pictures not only touche people's self confidence but also the person who is retouched. Those "singer" "actice"... are the first concerned by this problem. They are judged harshly on their body appearance. When something is retouched it means it needs fixing. Knowing that thousands of people only see and love the "fixed" you, without even wanting this "fixing" in the first place, must be hard. This "social Policy" is forced on them and also the rest of the world.

  10. Hey, i think you chose a very interesting subject that can have many aspects and ways of approaching it. But it's good for each and every person to be reminded that they are beautiful just the way there are and that there is no perfect body type or standards. Thank youuu!
