My trip to Barcelona

Dear Charlie,
Last holiday I went to Barcelona! I only stayed four days there, but I tried to see and experience as many things as I could. I do not speak Spanish, but there are some similarities with Italian and of course at last I practised my English!

The first day, I discovered the center of the city and its districts El Born and Gotico. I especially loved El Born because it was full of life with lovely shops and nice little streets. The Port Vell is really modern! There is a big bridge that leads to a mall called Mare Magnum. I think it is like another version of our Terrasses du Port in Marseille!

On the second day, I took my breakfast in the market La Boqueria. It is one of the biggest market I have ever seen! There are all types of food, but I went there in order to try their smoothies and exotic fruits. Then, I explored the Park Guell which was created by Gaudi. It has a really unusual architecture for a parc, but I thought it was really cool and colourful with a beautiful view of Barcelona! I had so much fun this day, I really enjoyed all the things I did.

The third day, It was extremely sunny and hot, so I went to the beach in Barcelonetta. It is not far from the center at all. The fact that there is a subway station for Barcelonetta is really practical. It would be great to do the same thing in Marseille! If you are looking for a calm and quiet beach in Barcelona I won't recommend this one because every 2 minutes there is someone who yells "massage!" or "mojito!" or even "tattoo!" sometimes. However, it is still an enjoyable place to hang out in the city!

On the fourth and last day, I went to casa Batlo and casa Perdrara, two other creations made by Gaudi. Again, it was really surprising to see this style of architecture among the other standard buildings. I did not enter into the houses because I thought it was a little bit too expensive, but if you are passionate about architecture and Gaudi's work you should. Normally I do not like paella but for the first time I liked it! I also tried the empanadas and the burritos. I think you can not leave Barcelona without eating churros on the beach!
I loved my trip to Barcelona and I will definitely go back there again (not only, but especially for the food!).

See you, Loredana :)

  2. I've been there like three times already but there's always that same feeling of joy and uniqueness! We always go camping there, it became a sort of habit every summer!

  4. I've been to Barcelona one when I was little, we were staying with my mother's cousin! We had loads of fun sightseing... It's a great city. I think that no other city can and would have the same spirit of Barcelona. I've also been to Lanzarote, it's in the Canary islands on the north west coast of africa. The islands are really small. The Canary islands are spanish, so they're spanish speaking although it's african. I spend two weeks other there in christmas not long ago. A the time, I lived in England so I spoke English, so they could understand me well!!! It was sooo nice! It was really hot (more than Marseille!) and I had a lot of fun visiting the islands. We saw an exeptionnel "Cactus garden", it was a garden with loads of different types of cactuses, it was brilliant...
Anyway, The two times i've been in "Spain", I really enjoyed mysealf, and had loads of fun!!
