Dear Charlie,
Have you read this article in the New York Times?
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/08/education/edlife/is-your-first-grader-college-ready.html
I've just read it and I could not help thinking of our Première students telling me how sometimes it can be difficult at their age to work out and work on university application.
Clearly, it could be worse, they could have started at age 6!
If the first graders can manage (I guess), so can they. ;p
To tell you the truth, I'm not entirely convinced by this new trend. Contrary to the teacher in the video, I have not yet discussed university and career choice with my 6-year-old daughter and do not mean to do so for quite some time.
But I have with our Première students and I mean to continue guiding them on the tricky path to university in an English-speaking country.
So, students, brace yourself for more discussion on courses, career, extracurricular activities, personal projects but also personal statements, application deadlines, scholarships and student loans...
You're ready. You can do it. We can do it, Let's do it!
Next on the agenda:
The SAT preparation in maths in English will be starting next week on Thursday, February 19 with Mr. Bachy at 12:00 in 202. (I'll give you the other dates in class, be sure to ask me.)
I'm also inviting you and the Seconde who are interested to 2 orientation meetings in March: one on the UK on March 12 @ 6:00, the other on the US on March 19 @ 6:00. It will give me the opportunity to present and explain again the 2 systems and answer your and your parents' questions and concerns. I'll confirm the dates asap.
Best,
Mrs. C.
