Dear Charlie,.
André Brink a great South African writer has just passed away.
He was among the Afrikaaners who chose to defy the Apartheid and had therefore some of his books banned.
His best known novels were Looking on Darkness (1974),Rumours of Rain (1978), A Dry White Season (1979) - which was turned into a film by Euzhan Palcy in 1989 -
A Chain of Voices (1981) and Philida - which was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2012.
If you haven't read them, I recommend that you do and watch the film too.
