Andy Warhol lodges at the M.A.C.!

You all know Andy Warhol...no? Ok, you all know the pop-art of the Campbell Soup and Marilyn Monroe...? So you know Andy Warhol ! He lived during the 20th century and is one of thus who begun the Pop-Art movement with Roy Lichtenstein. Pop-Art is an art which is simple, colorful and stages objects or scenes of everyday’s life.

I am very interested in Pop-Art, and in art in general and if you are too, or if you are curious about it, there is an exhibition taking place in Marseille until April and it is free until 26 (sorry for you dear teachers, maybe you can try anyway...)

The exhibition presents 8 time capsules made by A. Warhol in his life from 1974 to 1980. The time capsules contain personnal elements, records, letters…

At M.A.C.from 6th December to 12th April

69 avenue de Haïfa 13008 Marseille

  3. I hate Warhol just as much as I hate pop art. There are colours everywhere and that's nothing beautiful. When I was younger I too painted pictures and stuck them on some paper. Nothing new here.

    1. It is your mind, but Andy Warhol did it before you were born, the new thing is that this has been considered as art.

  4. Last year, we went to the museum with my school and there was Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy portraits by Andy Warhol and for my Histoire des Arts we did the Campbell soup and that's when I discoverd that Pop-art was a mouvement...

  5. Well, as a matter of fact, Andy Warhol has been considered as an artist not only because of his pieces of art, but also because he kind of broke the rules. That doesn't really fit in my definition of an artist, but I recognise him as a main figure of the 20th century though.

  7. wooow I really love Andy warhol, he is one of my favorit artists (if not my favorit!) I think he is in some way like ¨Picasso because he broke the rules that controlled art in his time, he was also a defender of LGBT rights and very implicated in aids prevention wich he sadly died of at a quite young age

  12. A little controversy. I'm not surprised. Warhol and pop art has always good at provoking it. But then challenging preconceived ideas and new ways of thinking are what makes you grow (and write a good English essay ;-p)
Given the exhibit opening times and all our shedules, I don't know if I'll be able to organise a visit with all of you, but I heard you, Alicia and Céline.
