Today, in my first article, I'm going to analyze two of my favorite songs from Billie Eilish.
First and foremost, who is Billie Eilish?
She is a musician, author, composer and actress. Most of her songs are composed by her brother Finneas and herself. Billie has always been passionate about music, singing and dancing. She grew up in a very artistic family, so her parents were very supportive in her career.
Billie Eilish has a very calm/pop music style, with deep lyrics and engagement. She supports many causes, like the LGBT+ community, mental health, anti-racism, environmental issues, anti-trumpism... in other words : She is a queen.
Anyway, let's dig into the meaning of some songs, my personal favorites. Choosing only two songs was nearly impossible, I hope you will listen to more than these!๋࣭⭑ֶֶֶָָָ֢֢֢𖹭

This song was created for the movie 'Barbie'. Initially, Billie wrote the lyrics imagining the perspective of a fictional character. After a few lines, however, she realized that it actually represented her.
This song represents the feeling of being lost. She doesn't understand how she feels. She is like a Barbie doll, who appears perfect and organized, but turns out to not be real. This facade hides her actual pain and confusion. Her joy fades away, but she doesn't have the courage to talk about it.
Despite all this melancholy, there is still hope. She is waiting for happiness, because she believes this is something she is made for. It shows that whatever is happening in your life, even if you feel completely lost, you can always find a way to see the light.
Musically, her voice is very soft, breathy, and extremely delicate. Singing this song can be really tricky, it requires great emotional control and breathing technique. It is not just about hitting the notes, this song really connects with the audience and shares feelings.

In this masterpiece, it seems like Billie is having a conversation, and as the song progresses we realize that she is actually talking to herself. We can imagine Billie talking to her reflection in the mirror.
"I don't wanna be you, anymore..." This powerful line shows how deeply Billie wishes she could escape her own mind. Billie confesses that she doesn't accept who she is. Even if she tries to be happy, or to talk to people, it never works. She once told how bad her self-esteem was, that she really hated herself, and in her head she was completely lost. Billie felt invisible and horrible for "no reason at all, which is almost worse than having a reason".
Later in the song, she explains how even some models, who are considered as "perfect people", don't always love themselves, it can be really hard for them too. People look up to them thinking "this is the standard, that's what I need to be". Billie felt this way. She was surrounded by "perfect people" and felt like she didn't belong.
I, I don't wanna be you...
I don't wanna be you...
I don't wanna be you anymore...

Because of her honesty, her songs make fans feel understood and loved. I discovered her a few years ago, when I was having a really hard time, and her music helped me so much. Billie Eilish herself, her lyrics, her engagement... she is a source of inspiration. She started from scratch, fell many times, but she continued and is now living her dream. ๋࣭⭑ֶֶֶָָָ֢֢֢𖹭
