Poem in Your Pocket Day
Dear Charlie,
You may already be aware that this month is Poetry Month in the USA.
I know hat poetry month could be every month in the OIB, as we all love and celebrate it daily, studying it with such delight ;-)
But I also wanted to tell you about an interesting initiative in relation to it, called Poem in Your Pocket Day.
Every April, on Poem in Your Pocket Day, people celebrate by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day at schools, bookstores, libraries, parks, workplaces, and on Twitter using the hashtag #pocketpoem.
If necessary, you can find further information and some poems below
https://www.poets.org/national-poetry-month/poem-your-pocket-day
Poem in Your Pocket Day 2016 is coming up! It will be held on April 21.
Sadly, none of the OIB teachers will be available on that day. But let's get into this poetic mood nevertheless. I even hope that many of you will do it.
If it works, I'd like one or two volunteers in each year group to collect the poems chosen, create a poetic patchwork with them which you will photograph and post poems and photo on our blog so that we can all enjoy them.
I'm counting on you.
Mrs. C.
