Drum'n'bass

Dear Charlie,
No, this isn't an article about the electronic music style, drum'n'bass from the early 90s, but a brief message encouraging you to listen to these great radio programmes, especially if you're a drummer or a bassist (or love listening to these instruments). Gideon Coe is a DJ on my favourite radio station, BBC 6 Music, and he regularly has "specials" on a particular theme. This Christmas he had one special featuring excellent drumming, and another featuring great bass playing (bass, by the way, is pronounced "base", if you didn't know, and I'm talking about the bass guitar, of course). To finish the year, he also had an obituary programme, featuring records by musicians who died in 2015 (he'll be busy this year). Sadly, Lemmy isn't named, as he died after it was recorded, but his drummer, Phil "Filthy Animal" Taylor died this year, so he gets in anyway (Taylor is also in the drummer programme, and so Lemmy again gets in with him). Well, that's enough from me. You have 6 days to listen to the drummers, 7 for the bassists, and 8 for the obituaries. That makes for 9 hours of great music! Tell me what you think, and if you've discovered any great songs or artists...
All the best,
Mr Leah

  1. Lemmy... I know it's a miracle he lived so long but still, I miss him so much, I'll do an article about him

  2. Thank you very much for this very interesting info. Thanks to the OIB, I'm getting quite an extended musical education. ;-) But I'm still waiting for an article on David Bowie(RIP). I guess I could do it, but I'd much rather one of you OIB musical experts do it. I'm counting on you. Mrs. C.
